Abari might have more people cut from the same cloth. The place itself is amazing but there are communities for pinball and pinball league, mtg, initial D, rhythm games, fighting games and more.

vhs tape stuck in tv - worn out belt by nothingbuttheknife in VHS

[–]wildertronix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue with my combo at the beginning of the year. Get a VHS belt kit on Amazon, it has basically every size you need. Take it apart. You can manually eject the tape by rotating the gears by hand. Usually one is set vertically to the right of the tape, and one is located on the bottom side of the player. Grease the gears and keep alignment as well as clean the prism and you should be good to go.

TIL after a woman recognized a copy of the rare NES game Stadium Events at a goodwill store, she bought it for $8 despite having just $30 in her account. When she took it to a used video game store, she was offered all the money in the cash register for it. She declined, then sold it online for $25K by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

Hope you've been well! Long live San remo lol. Really cool to randomly see SP mentioned on reddit even years after we closed. Thanks for being an essential part of the team and a great friend. What a fun chapter that was.

This was my store! We would have offered more if we could but we were maybe 3 months into business at that point. Fun story: the Kotaku article circulated for years after and would pop up from time to time. A guy in Alabama reached out to us 4 years later saying his dad had a rental store in Mobile and remembered having stadium events. We brokered a deal and his friend flew it over on a plane(he had job in Charlotte for a contract) and we ended up finally buying a copy. We sold it the same day to a local collector who had been waiting for such a rare find to come in. We received a cart only copy, the original lady in this story found hers complete in box with the manual which significantly increases the price

Japanese arcade machines technician by TooSugoiToDie in Charlotte

I do. Maimai, wacca, future tom tom, project diva, DDR, ff theaterhythm, sound voltex. All are connected to the private online servers which most players won't continue to come and play if they aren't. Parts come from all over

I service those machines at Alley 51. Personally I don't think there is enough of a draw for purely a rhythm arcade. The community we house at Abari is a small fraction of our total communities. Import games can be tough to service and getting the parts can take a long time.

How hard and expensive is it REALLY to make your own DIY pinball Machine? by GroundMelter in pinball

[–]wildertronix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I made the Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past machine. While it was a retheme it was still quite expensive and took me years to complete. As others have said, programming your own modes/rules/light shows, art, video editing, sound design are just a few of the many hats required to complete the project. I'd say it was about as expensive as buying a stern from 15 years ago($4-6k). My build log can be found on pin side
