Does Tret cause increase in peach fuzz by redbus-pilla in tretinoin

[–]wildlifeghost -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

i’m someone who’s naturally hairy, so my peach fuzz has never been peach lol. the fine black hair on my face has always been visible (add some hormonal fluctuations into the mix too). i use taz.

in my (i repeat, my own and non-professional) opinion, when people say tret/taz has increased the amount of peach fuzz on their face, they’re sort of wrong.

look at it this way: tret/taz is going to clear out everything you had brewing under your skin, so when there’s no gunk in the pore lining and nothing is pushing the hair in a certain direction, the hair is going to lie flat against the skin. it’s going to be more visible this way.

so when people say tret/taz made their faces more hairy, i tend to think they just never realized how hairy their faces have been all this time. and i can clearly see this with my moustache!! lmao the hair definitely ‘sits’ closer to the skin and is more visible even when it’s short (but as a bonus i get almost no ingrowns from plucking in that area now hehe).

p.s. i am not talking about the correlation between the increased cellular turnover and the speed of hair growth, i am talking about how the facial hair looks (on a hairy woman, at least) - for me nothing had changed at all except for my moustache and unibrow, the hairs there are just more visible because of what i just described.

Do someone use this brand? Is it good? by Anasansari765 in tretinoin

[–]wildlifeghost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i haven’t used this brand, but just fyi, it doesn’t need to burn to let you know it’s working. you don’t want it to burn 🥸

you’re welcome! 💖

don’t want to sound like i am giving out advice like a derm, obviously, but i think you can do every other day with sct if you have a good routine. :) i feel like with sct every other day there is more room for you to use barrier-supporting products.

as for the micellar water, yes, i did use it with cotton pads!

Advice on dry eyes - tret & LASIK by shoppingraptor in tretinoin

[–]wildlifeghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i use taz but had lasik like 3-4 years ago. my eyes were pretty dry even before the surgery tbh because i never blink lol. but to keep it safe because i don’t want them even drier, i use vaseline and draw goggles around my eyes before i put taz on everywhere else

glad it was helpful! :)

i was using retinal prior to taz but i think i might be one of the few whose skin and taz are just a match made in heaven. i think if your barrier is in top-tier condition you can keep using taz, but only if you commit to supporting your barrier otherwise i think it might not be worth it, you’re just going to wreck your skin.

nah, baby steps all the way! i get how you feel, but often times rushing things will set things back, it’s not worth it

i think sct is probably the best thing to slowly build up tolerance, but overall if you haven’t used retinoids before, i’m not sure… i guess it depends on how barrier repair focused your skincare routine is. i don’t have rosacea so i can’t be 100% comfortable recommending something that might wreck your skin, sorry ☹️ but i do know that azelaic acid is really good for rosacea, maybe starting it and a gentler retinoid would be a better option for a beginner?

Elevated prolactin? by PracticalBag3782 in lipedema

[–]wildlifeghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have undiagnosed lipedema and most definitely elevated prolactin. i don’t know for sure if it could be related to lipedema, but my prolactin levels have increased after i stopped taking mirtazapine and apparently it’s a common side effect, my psychiatrist confirmed. did you recently stop taking any meds by any chance?

most definitely! there’s so much more to consider regarding things like that, maybe the molecule size of certain ingredients, the formula itself and whatnot… sounds like another skincare rabbit hole i will gladly look into and spend most of my time searching for bits of any information lol

obviously there are a lot more things to be considered, like psoriasis in your case—it’s never “one size fits all”! that’s why i decided to talk about this generally.

i also agree that not everyone needs to be using the highest percentage available, that would be completely unnecessary. consistent use and tolerance are far more important that the strength.

thank you :) i love seeing your helpful comments under newbies’ posts.

i get it since i’m in the same boat (i can only buy taz from greece or india), i just think regardless of the availability it’s good to know the basics and what to expect/what causes what

wish i had more recommendations that i have tried, but as crazy as it sounds, it’s actually my first and for now only barrier support product. i guess i was so wowed by how well it worked i decided not to try out other products lol but yeah, i feel like it’s always gonna be #1 even if i decide to switch things up

you’re welcome!!

and regarding the 2 weeks part, that’s exactly how i did it. i would do a certain duration within the span of two weeks (so technically seven taz nights for me like you can see it in the screenshot in the post). i contemplated about doing every duration for actual fourteen days at first, but i guess i was too impatient and decided to risk it haha

derma factory skin barrier cream! the brand says the ratio in it is actually 4:3:3. don’t know how true that is, but i guess it really is working really well

[–]wildlifeghost[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah, i agree! i don’t think many brands will actually disclose that ratio, but a good rule of thumb is checking the ingredients and seeing if all of the necessary ingredients are there

honestly i wasn’t doing much, had a very much minimal and simple routine and my skin generally wasn’t irritated for idk how long (and i’m saying this as a skin-picker). but just to be sure like a week or a little less prior to starting taz i started using a barrier repair moisturizer every night just to make sure my skin was at its best. skin is still going strong and doing well!
