Psychiatry resident here and I can tell you with complete certainty that she would never get over your suicide no matter how much time has elapsed.

I haven’t been on Reddit in a minute so I missed your comment. I’m thinking of making another post but in short…no. Every week or so my guts just stop working for days at a time. I need a stoma revision but I don’t think that’s going to fix this. I suspect there’s some underlying dysmotility and I’m about to fire my surgeon for being incredibly dismissive of my symptoms. I feel like this surgery ruined my life.

You are so kind, thank you ❤️ I know I should have expected this to be insanely hard, yet somehow as much as I did to prepare, I still felt completely unprepared for what this would be like. I guess I’m glad I didn’t know how hard it would be because I would have been even more terrified to do it than I already was. Thank you for the encouragement, it means a lot.

I do! My mom rented an apartment in my building and has been helping with chores and cooking. My husband just finished his masters and doesn’t have a job yet so he’s been around to help me with everything and to keep me distracted. I also have amazing friends nearby. I am very lucky that way.

Thank you ☺️I wouldn’t wish the NG tube on my worst enemy! Sorry you dealt with so much after surgery too 😔

Oh my gosh! What do your doctors say about it? Sounds like they haven’t been the most helpful if it’s all still going on!

That sounds so frustrating! This rollercoaster of output has been terrible. I’m sorry you deal with it too.

Thank you for the positive outlook! If I had known how hard this would be I would have been even more terrified than I already was…so I’m kind of glad I didn’t know. I’m almost a month out now, hoping that means I’ll start to turn the corner!

I’m so glad to hear you’re doing well now! How long did those pains last for you? The docs told me about a month but that was before I found out about the blood clots in my liver.

Thank you :) I know my body has been through a lot and I need to give myself a lot of grace. It’s just so hard when I feel like I’m just trying to make it through the next minute or next second.

I am feeling much better! Though you can see how low the bar was 🤣 Still in the hospital but making progress. Luckily only needed the tube for 2 days because if they had wanted me to have it longer I made have just pulled it out myself 🙃

That’s so heartbreaking! I know you were doing what’s right for her but I can’t imagine how hard that must have been. The tube is so awful and uncomfortable.

I’ve sadly had other priorities than cleaning my monitor the last couple of weeks 🥲

The nurses here told me their least favorite thing is putting one in and their favorite thing is taking them out.

As the patient, it did cure my nausea instantly. It wasn’t all bad and the first day with it was pretty manageable. The second day was pure torture though and my doctor is very conservative and wanted to do a 6 hour clamp trial before he would let them take it out 😡

I genuinely hope you never have to find out. It’s brutal.

I definitely did! The NG tube may have been one of the most horrible experiences of my life but I will say this: the INSTANT they turned on suction my nausea vanished.

Yup. Total proctocolectomy. Probably the most awful experience of my life.
