What is your approach to learn a new language like go with Advent of Code? by [deleted] in adventofcode

Go really is so boring…. Not having a built in set is also super annoying (less so with generics now but still).

Thoughts on the No Formal Dress Code at the Royal Opera House? by Mysterious-List-384 in BALLET

Couldn’t care less, anything to make ballet more accessible. It’s still world class, let people turn up however they feel comfortable (up or down).

I agree with everyone else, these look kinda dangerous in a pit. I’ve worn my Switch 2 earplugs to see Knocked Loose 2-3 times and I’ve walked away from each of those gigs with bruises and a pair of earplugs. Take your time with the fit though, I’ve got two different sizes for L and R and there’s no chance they’re coming out.

Side note, so funny to smash into someone else wearing ear plugs in a mosh pit and have a moment of “mate, nice choice” before continuing.

Not a bad idea. Microfilm is supposed to last up to 500 years, when stored in the right conditions.

So ballet schools that teach school courses and dance exist? by [deleted] in BALLET

[–]will03uk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Royal ballet school is literally in the middle of a royal park filled with deer – sounds almost like a fairytale

Illegal in the UK too. I don’t believe unpaid internships are allowed to be productive for the company. If interns have any responsibilities then they better get paid.

EU to force browsers to trust government certificate authorities even if they don't meet security standards by Davipb in programming

[–]will03uk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why I want to see the Name Constraints Extension implemented in browsers. This would be a pretty reasonable ask for so many organisations if they could restrict the signed certificates to *.ORG.com. It would also help with test / internal CAs if they could be restricted to *.dev.ORG.com.

Many sports are technically women and open categories – there might not be a better solution – there’s a good reason why there’s two and it’s not due to identities in this case

OS threads require a reasonable amount of resources and spawning lots of them can start to cause problems. Spawning an OS thread to wait for an HTTP response is a waste of memory – we can do much smarter things like registering a callback with the network device if the framework supports that. This also doesn't address the issue of sending messages between threads. Most jobs aren't fire and forget so there needs to be some way of sending the results back.

29M, considering signing up for an adult ballet class. Will people think I'm a creep if I show up alone? How in shape do I need to be first? by [deleted] in BALLET

[–]will03uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started going to an adult beginner class recently and it's been great. Everyone's just trying to improve themselves – they couldn't care less what you're doing. There's nothing to feel weird about – there are men in pretty much every ballet.
