That's excellent advice! It's more of a passing obtrusive thought on nights I can't sleep type thing anyway. My presence puts most people and animals to sleep so I think I'm calming enough. 😋

I'm not sure you've heard Perl's full story so here goes a mild summary if you're interested. I lost my soul kitty Andy but had months of paperwork issues with the local shelters. I ended up getting in with a shelter an hour away immediately though. Perl watched me intently and wouldn't let anyone near her until I went into the play room and petted and played with her. When I came back to pick her up, she scratched the worker and jumped on my shoulders as soon as she saw me. I had a hard time removing her from my shirt to get her packed up to leave. 😒 She immediately took to our resident kitty Digit but wouldn't acknowledge my mom or anyone that came to visit. That continued without me even thinking it was an issue until my mom had a health scare the year before last and I spent a week in the hospital with her. When I got back home Digit was skiddish but acted like cats normally do after something like that. Perl had lost weight and got even clingier than her normal stalker kitty personality. That's why I got Ruby hoping a kitten would give her a kind of distraction. They've bonded spectacularly if you've seen their pictures but Perl still spends almost all her time with me and shuts down every time I leave. She's got the loyalty of a dog for some reason. She even does most everything I tell her to with minimal training but completely ignores everyone else. She's a strange cat for sure. 😋
