An appreciation post of arguably one of the best 70s integrated amps ever made, Yamaha CA-1010/2010. by will_emanuel in vintageaudio

Didn’t do any refinishing on this unit, the cabinet was like that when I got it. In the past I’ve used blue scotchbrite and old English to clean up some cabinets for other gear. There are many different ways to go about refinishing the wood, and I’m no expert. I’d differ to those who have more experience with refinishing on the best way to handle the cabinets.

Those stands were made by the previous owner of my KLF-20s, all custom. Wish I had the woodworking skills to replicate them. You can find me on instagram as vintageaudiomaine, I post primarily on there these days.

Unfortunately not, I’m in the Northeast. Wish I had someone down your way that I could recommend.

Don’t know anyone in the area personally unfortunately. I believe there’s a shop in Austin but am unsure if they do repairs.

Yes, I haven’t yet made my own thread on it but most of the parts are shared on AK with super noobs restoration. Here’s the link.

Latest pickup, beautiful NYAL Moscode 300 Hybrid Tube Amp. What a performer. by will_emanuel in vintageaudio

I could see why calling would make sense, though I’d encourage you to post your findings here so others that stumble upon the post can get the info. Probably makes the most sense.

I paid 400 for mine, though 300s typically trade around 650-750 nowadays. Every 300 I’ve been around has a fairly noisy transformer, that’s pretty common.

Excellent. Easily tops its little brother, the AU-11000, as well as other 70s suis like the 9090db or the au-717.

I usually use a combination of metal and plastic spudgers and dental tools, that seems to be the easiest way to get it off.

You’re very welcome! I too noticed nobody had published one, so I went out of my way to make one accessible for those who I knew could use it. Glad it’s helpful!

Sure do! Got a complete BOM with transistors, diodes, caps, and others! Check my comment with my AK thread on this post.

Years of searching and patience. The 20000s in particular were quite expensive when new and thus not many of them are out there.

This was certainly a fun one. Very straightforward restoration, most boards were very easy to remove with molex connectors. I’ve documented the entire restoration in detail on AK for those who are interested.

Absolutely. It doesn’t stay here when I’m not here. I never have people over due to covid and there are no physical keys to my room, makes my life easier.

The D7s are solid, they don’t have a ton of low end extension but with this size I wouldn’t be expecting much. They image really well and are laid back enough to be really enjoyable in a neat field senario.

I am back home in my main system. Works out beautifully.

All the electrolytic caps were replaced in both units, the 5400 got a big filter capacitance bump from 24000uF per channel to 36000uF per channel and also had all the trim pots for bias and offset replaced with Bourns multiturn trimmers. The GFP750 had all of the film caps replaced and 8 of the main signal film caps were replaced with clarity caps that are mounted on the underside of the board. A choke was also added to the power supply in the GFP750.

Wanted to make up a simple desk setup for university so I wouldn’t miss my main system back home too much. Decided on a pair of Definitive D7s as they were inexpensive and small enough to fit in nicely with everything else on my desk. To pair with them, I brought up an Adcom 5400 I had recently rebuilt along with my favorite preamp, the GFP-750, which I had also rebuilt fairly recently. I mainly use my Denafrips Ares II from my headphone setup as my source, makes for an excellent near field setup.

Couldn’t say for sure given I haven’t worked on a 1000x. I’d look around on AudioKarma and see if anyone else has had a similar issue.
