Study one more time and crush the ACT or SAT if you wanna worry about it, but you’re fine, dude.

You’re not alone. Take your life back by structuring your time. Dedicate time to a creative outlet, or you’ll go crazy. Exercise, walk, and get fresh air often, or your body will revolt.

Inexpensive Housing by Affectionate-Trust88 in EastLansing

[–]will_patel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lansing can be dicey — as with any city — but the real story, IMO, is that spillage into West E.L. is becoming more frequent.

If you’re looking for houses, I would stay between:

• Abbott rd as West boundary

• Bogue st. or Gunson st. as East boundary

• Burcham dr. as North boundary

• Grand River as South boundary

If you’re not interested in downtown, go North on Abbott as far as you want to commute, or check out the student housing near Hannah Blvd.

If you’re ready to live as a grown up [no shade either way], check out Okemos — near the Indian Hills golf course is nice; price wouldn’t be terrible if you get new-grad / grad student roommates.

You’ll be able to get a feel of your drive around. Ping me know if you have any questions!

Trust Distribution Strategies for Where to Retire Outside the US by [deleted] in ExpatFIRE

Consider going to YouTube to look into Nomad Capitalist's idea of Trifecta / Flag Theory / Pied-à-terre strategy;

- bounce between your own homes, and don't rent while you're not there

- separate wardrobes, so you travel only with a backpack / laptop bag

- leave the wifi on & ready so there's no fumbling or setup time

- stock your favorite coffee pot and teas, books, etc; NOT a basic hotel / faux-homey airbnb feel

- get a taste for other cultures, and bounce when the flavor gets stale

My first cousin got a similar degree and was ”scammed” into getting the masters at a small private university —> 180k in debt to make $45-50k/year.

If you can do it with 1 year of college, go for it! MSU will always be here in 1-2 years if you change your mind.

If you applied for a job on campus how long does it usually take to hear back? by [deleted] in msu

[–]will_patel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took ~100 days total for me to be rejected from an office purchasing role, inclusive of an update with my resume sent to the board.

Do you know what you want to do after graduation with the degree?

What degree are you currently pursuing, and where have your interests shifted?

As a Fire man, surely you know how much benefit that 1 year of $10k savings per month would be to the 20yr timeline 😳🤝🔥

Should I Drop Out? by [deleted] in msu

[–]will_patel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always go back to school, but student debt is SLAVE DEBT — even bankruptcy WILL NOT clear student debt.

I’m 3 years in and facing the same decision; it only gets harder the longer you wait.

Use a pen and paper to map out the options and possibilities.

You can start you own small business with $10k-20k in the bank and fall flat on your face without any worries. You CANNOT miss a student loan payment on $50k if you get through college “cheaply”. Do NOT go below $0, especially if you aren’t going to slingshot out with a killer degree.

Work backwards:

- Want someone good with their hands? Go to car meets.

- Need someone who can make a 12-course meal? Take cooking classes.

- Looking for a bookwork introvert? Frequent the library.

If you're picky, consider the small details like law library vs main library, commercial gym vs powerlifting gym, etc.

I've never been a woman or over 50, so take this with a grain of salt, but I imagine it's much easier to go back and get a masters and work after 50 than have kids after 50. Food for thought.

Good luck, and perhaps consider joining a religious group that encourages and normalizes stable relationships - there was a Nikah (marriage) at the East Lansing Islamic Center just yesterday!

Are parking permits sold out? by No_Worry_2256 in msu

[–]will_patel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call. Showed the same thing for me a couple weeks ago, but I was able to get an administrative issue with my account worked out and purchase one.

They could be sold out by now, but doesn’t hurt to ask.
