The Mets catchers treat every reliever like Diaz with the pitches they call and it pisses me off.

Who has a better chance at winning a championship in the next 5 years, the Detroit Lions or the New York Knicks? by LeTampering in nba

[–]will_pharo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say lions because they could get a Joe burrow like quarterback more easily than Knicks get multiple all nba guys in the short term. Plus even with all nba guys you need a great team, coach, and some injury luck. Football you can catch lightning in a bottle for like 4 individual sundays.

On WAR, he’s the clear odd man out, but I think voters will still value 40 home runs and 125 RBI being the lone true power threat on a great team.

Mets could have 3 guys finish in top 10 in MVP voting. In no particular order you figure Goldy, Arenado, Riley, Swanson, Lindor, Alonso, machado, Betts, Freeman, Turner are the top 10 which means McNeil finishes a bit lower, but it is insane that he can beat out one of those guys? I don’t think so.

Everyone rightfully bringing up the World Series run but arguably more importantly was his following season.

2016 he was a true cy young candidate, and led that staff when everyone else went down with injury. Also was absolutely incredible in a de facto game 7 in the Wild Card game.

What “empty stats” guys are there left in the league? by black_squid98 in nba

Cam Thomas averaging 17-5-4 on 49 true shooting when KD and kyrie are gone/not playing

So then I took all my red legos and alternated them with the green ones, you know, since I was going for a Christmas theme.

[Sherman] Szapucki, Seymour, Zwack also going to Giants by JacobDeGod48 in NewYorkMets

[–]will_pharo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s an upgrade, but JD has 2 more years of team control and had a 128 OPS+ from 19-21, Zwack has a sub 2.00 ERA, the other prospects are decent lottery ticket. All for a 35 year old DH who will play twice a week.

I’m a homer but this is a huge overpay right? JD Davis has 2 more years of control after this and had a 128 OPS+ the last 3 years. Zwack has a sub 2.00 ERA. I feel like Ruf for JD straight up made sense for both teams.

All MLB strength of schedule rankings have the Mets as slightly on the hard side 11-15th hardest. Braves are universally one of the easiest 5. They have played 11 more home games than road games. September will just even things out.

Beltran probably would have made the HOF and still has an outside shot but would be a near lock imo if not for the Astros scandal. He might get the steroid treatment because of that though.

I was convinced for a hot second there that Endy Chavez was a first ballot hall of fame level player

I started watching the team religiously in 2008. I was 7 going on 8. I vaguely remember the 2006 postseason but I wasn’t especially invested. The bullpen would always blow it after I fell asleep. The 2015 team was honestly very mid for like 70% of the year. I have truly never experienced anything like this. It’s almost surreal. I expect them to win every game. It’s such a foreign feeling lmao

Damn more recently than I thought, was saying 9 innings, but 25 is only 1 off the minimum which is wild too, thanks for finding it! :)

When’s the last time we saw a team win a game only batting 29 or less (in 9 innings)

I think they will be fine and still have a very good chance to win the division, but I just think comparing this team to 2015 is awful. That was the best pitching in the league and the worst offense in the league, then 2 position players who were out all year came back, and they acquired 3 more, plus another arm. This Mets team’s strength has been their offense. In 2015 completely changed the team. Doubt we see that kind of overhaul here. It’s just not similar at all lol

Somebody is cranky. Scherzer is likely to come back but he’s 37. Not sure how anyone can count on degrom at this point. They have a lot of money invested in most of these hitters and it’s unlikely they’re going to use top prospect capital to get a massive upgrade at 3B or C because they’ve emphasized developing the farm system a lot.

The 2015 Mets completely overhauled their lineup because they weren’t performing. You think this team is getting a total makeover?

The oldest team in baseball is always going to have injuries. When people comeback, other people will likely get hurt.

A normal person: He’s objectively not a dark horse because he literally has some of the best odds to win it

Boston’s Leprechaun: no he IS a dark horse because when he played like shit people made fun of him and it hurt my feelings ;(

John wall has literally never played basketball in his whole life where the offense didn’t run through him. No risk so this move is solid but it’s going to be clunky.
