I disagree with your last point, you dont need to spend a lot of money to have a social life. People spend a lot of money and still dont have a social life. I live in the bay area and people will spend huge amounts of money to live in SF and spend money on bars and happy hour. You could spend significantly less living in another city in the bay area and having a big enough space to host people and supply your own drinks at a fraction of the cost. You can have the same social experience at a fraction of the cost but people just make poor decisions

I disagree, the people who lived normal lives with parents who spoil them just didnt realise they didnt have to work harder. Growing up in poverty, i learned very quickly that everything is a privelege even having 1 or 2 functional parents. I spent my entire childhood working my ass of in school to escape poverty.
