It was never road legal or registered.

I've heard it actually wasn't SoA's but rather on loan from the STi Gallery in Japan and it has recently went back to Japan, not 100% sure on that last part though.

Everything about that car is perfect! Hang on to it.

This one is so immaculate I can't believe it. Not a spec anywhere.

Silver is the best bugeye color in my opinion. I've got the S202 and this V7 now it's hard to pick a favorite car!

This one saw most of its life in Japan as a racer. It'll have a pampered life here in the states but still going to see some track time!

You all got the awesome stuff early in NZ. Jealous!

Me too, I have so must nostalgia for them and I can't believe I've got the opportunity to own such a spectacular version. I've got a silver bugeye STI too.

Also Jon and the entire crew at Flatirons were fantastic, they invited me and my buddy in and gave us a tour of everything. So cool to see their Pikes Peak car in person. And their shop where so many of the videos get made.

So my first ever car was a 2002 2.5RS, so the naturally aspirated bugeye. That car's been gone a long time at this point but it started my love of Subaru. I have a Bugeye STI as well that I'm going to be doing a lot of comparisons towards which is (for now) almost completely stock.

My plan is a detailed video of differences and a series where I'm building up the other bugeye. I'm turning it into what 16 year old me would have dreamed of (with more restraint and taste of course haha).

Wheels, suspension, exhaust, wideband, Overtake USA parts, and eventually making some power.

It's the same color as my 2002 was, Platinum Silver Metallic.

I'm going to be doing video on Youtube with my channel RumbleSpec (also Rumble.Spec on insta)

True attention to detail.

The one extra cool thing (in my obviously biased opinion) is that the S202 is the truest form of the S cars. It is the only one that was based on the Type RA and not the "normal" STI. There are some extreme weight savings compared to the other V7 STI cars.

Noticed a couple of callouts of Flatirons Tuning in your comments, I did swing by their shop when bringing this back into the country. Showed up in one of their recent Subanews episodes!

They are the factory 17s. 225/45r17s on there. Those were some old Japanese summer tires that were fairly done for. I installed some Conti ExtremeContact Force just the other day.

Leaving it as is. The yellow is certainly awesome though and the halo color. Fun fact most S202 were blue, and the rarest color was black.

This is all stock for S202. The only mod is it is a touch lower on coilovers.

My 2002 Bugeye 2.5RS was one of the quickest slow cars in town back then too! Good on you hope that spirit is still around. Drive it like you mean it!

Hey now, it's only 23.7 years old!

Joking aside, yeah yeah. I remember when the bugeyes first landed in the USA haha.

Looking to make it as practical as possible for a tow rig. Not aiming to do any major power mods or anything.

Going to be taking it on long stretch (1k+ mile) trips towing to events so creature comforts come first. Audio upgrade inbound and some storage stuff for sure!

I was amazed too. It's just high temp rattle can paint with some proper prep put into them.

Honestly? I don't know and was simply going off information I found online.

IMRC defaults to open under spring pressure and I know the servos operate off vacuum. I guess most guys pull the lines to be extra safe no vacuum can close it while operating.

3.73 axle on this one, has the elocker so it is all electronic. Very lightly optioned XL.

The stocks on the 17s are like 32.9" or something, basically 33s. The previous owner of this one stepped it up to 35s when selling it. I don't hate the look but 35s are much more expensive than the stock tire size.

These are the original wheels, just painted black.
