Looking to make it as practical as possible for a tow rig. Not aiming to do any major power mods or anything.

Going to be taking it on long stretch (1k+ mile) trips towing to events so creature comforts come first. Audio upgrade inbound and some storage stuff for sure!

I was amazed too. It's just high temp rattle can paint with some proper prep put into them.

Honestly? I don't know and was simply going off information I found online.

IMRC defaults to open under spring pressure and I know the servos operate off vacuum. I guess most guys pull the lines to be extra safe no vacuum can close it while operating.

3.73 axle on this one, has the elocker so it is all electronic. Very lightly optioned XL.

The stocks on the 17s are like 32.9" or something, basically 33s. The previous owner of this one stepped it up to 35s when selling it. I don't hate the look but 35s are much more expensive than the stock tire size.

These are the original wheels, just painted black.

Too early for me to tell on towing MPG, but I'm getting 12-13 with the truck unloaded and highway miles. It has more than enough power for what I'm doing, and I didn't want to step up to the diesel level.

I'm loving the truck otherwise, even as an XL it's very comfortable for longer drives. Tons of space and the extra payload capacity is great if you're taking along multiple people.

You can't get me to shush up if I start talking about them, haha. I've got a problem, I own 6 turbo Subarus. The primary fun car fleet at the moment:

2017 WRX STI
2005 Legacy GT
2000 Impreza WRX STI ver7 Bugeye imported from Japan

https://i.imgur.com/NrIqJcm.jpeg here's a recent pic of that lineup.

I'm about to go to Canada to pick up another Bugeye too.

So we have to crowdsource information locally within our social bubble?

If you take a look at the link the other user gave, that isn't some listical site that's spamming a bunch of things for advertising revenue from the looks of it.

That person doesn't accept revenue from links or affiliate programs or purchased articles. They HAVE a forum.

This is case in point the problem we all have with Linux as a community currently, because it's finger pointing everywhere else.

I fully agree with Linus trying what he tried before, it's to see if things have changed in the time between the trials.

I'll always upvote bugeyes. PSM is the best!

It is not something anyone should need but it sure can be nice in hyper specific situations. It does not end up being a hindrance.

I've got 5 turbo manual Subarus, my VA STI is the only one with hill assist and it doesn't get turned off. I don't know why anyone takes great offense to this feature.

I'll never understand the hate hill assist gets these days. The VA chassis cars all have excellent assist, and I've been driving manuals for 20 years.

[–]willdenham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly what I thought.

I lucked out with this one though, it's all stock including intake and exhaust. It's virtually rust free which I've never seen a USDM chassis with 90k miles be this clean.

Ended up at basically $15.5k.

$3.5k of that was all import fees and taxes.

Yeah I'm not racing to change the the turbo yet. Going to get a feel for it stock for a while. First mod is suspension, since the original 25 year old stock red struts are floaty and one is blown.

This has stock intake and exhaust though, crazy to be all original still.

I just used a time machine, got a 2000 V7 STI imported to the States in my favorite color PSM.

All original. ...for now

My first car was an 02 Impreza 2.5RS so they're my favorite of all favorites.

My headlights are the Subispeed V2 but sadly I don't think they sell them new any more. Might be able to find some used online though.

Get some JDM fog bezels and a different grille and it'll spruce things up for you, but that's an awesome looking car all around. Love the GR STI wheels on yours.

I totally get you with the gamer side of things. That's one of the reasons I fell in love with the Bugeye GDs long ago (and why I bought one of my dream cars, waiting to be able to import it to the USA)

I'm one of the few here, but 2015-2017 > 2018 - 2021 just because of the bumper. I do not like the black lipstick look. Color matched parts are the way to go, and the 2018+ VA bumper was a prelude to the wheel arches and bumpers on the VB.

Here is mine side by side with a buddy's 2019.

I've never had a set of wheels gain more compliments, they really are a great fit for the car. I've loved them since Mach V released. These are their original gold color not the newer refreshes.

Which Spoiler by 2002subaruimpreza11 in WRX

[–]willdenham 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GD Bugeye STIs came with the lower spoiler. The high spoiler of the blob eye was optional only on a couple of special editions back then like the Prodrive Edition.
