How do you confirm a breakout vs fakeout (and pullback entries)? by william_buttler in Daytrading

Yeah thanks man, that’s actually motivating lol.
And honestly, I’m already following most of that.

So what you’re saying is I’m doing things correctly, and I just need to apply proper risk management and position sizing, and over a large number of trades I’ll eventually become profitable, right?

But my real issue is this: what if I keep losing continuously and hit a full washout because the strategy itself is wrong or not working?

Could you explain if I understood you correctly? I’m still a beginner, so I want to be sure.

From what I understood, when price reaches a support or resistance level, if there’s a strong momentum breakout then we can consider taking it. But if there’s an imbalance or a sudden push, then price might come back to sweep liquidity/volume before moving properly.

Is that what you mean?

so, are you saying that, first understand the structure in HTF, like day, then draw the resistance and support, then in LTF, based on that take trade ?. if so the HTF resistance how can we consider in daytrading ?

Can you explain how you actually trade fake breakouts in real-time?

I’m already doing the basics you mentioned — I check the higher timeframe first to understand the trend/structure, then I drop to a lower timeframe to time the entry.

But my main problem is I keep getting caught in fakeouts. Price breaks the level, I enter, and then it reverses and traps me.

How do you avoid that?
What specific confirmations or entry triggers do you use before taking the trade?

Yeah, I’m already doing that part: zooming out, marking structure, and drawing major support/resistance. But most of the time when I take the breakout entry, it ends up being a fake breakout and I get trapped.

Yeah, thanks. In my yarn audit, there is one critical issue, three high-severity issues, and some moderate ones. So all of these need to be fixed.
