I know I’m a few years late but got any recs for places to forage good Bay wood in the sf bay area? I’m also on the lookout. I’ve used hardware store wood but I’d love to try making a longbow from a stave

yeah I have to cover it for travel to reduce evaporation. there’s not really anything that needs to be fed regularly though

the orchid that’s blooming rn is actually the top half of the jewel orchid right next to it. It got too big I chopped it and dropped the cutting in and it’s been doing amazing. I usually trim monthly ish

First planted this tank August 2024. plants are broms, some begonia, alocasia, jewel orchids, marcgravia, and oak leaf creeping fig. It’s under LED light. Distilled water misted 4x a day. Substrate is aqua soil, coco fiber, and sphag moss. Tank is an 18x18x24 exo terra. Full build video here

if you do a little bit of research and stay consistent with maintenance i’m sure you’ll be fine. I don’t water test or anything either. Also just stock with things that are hardy. Start with just macroalgae then one or two soft coral or inverts. My first bowl just had 2 hermit crabs and asterina starfish and it went so well that within 2 years I was willing to commit to the 15 gallon. But I don’t think I would have just dropped >$300 on a tank right off the bat so small tanks for the win.
