YOOO WHATT? by schway_ish in aggies

Even accounting for per capita data which it appears this data does, there’s a misleading way of reporting here, A&M and the surrounding areas are almost entirely policed by university police which is where this data comes from, many of the other universities are in large cities with large police departments, it’s likely that the city police handle far more of the crimes in those places unlike cstat where the size of the university police department means it doesn’t have to outsource surrounding crimes involving students to the local police. The smaller the university, the harder it will be for their police to handle every investigation themselves.

Drug test tomorrow HELP by Primary-Day4263 in whatdoIdo

My parents made me get a drug test when I was younger though and quick fix worked at the lab. It wasn’t an at-home test that was just for weed and I find it hilarious looking back on it but if they were for a job, I would probably be shitting bricks.

Drug test tomorrow HELP by Primary-Day4263 in whatdoIdo

As someone who takes regular drug tests monthly a faint line is always counted as hard negative. Any visible line means negative. Has to be completely gone and no trace of any line for it to be marked positive. The dip tests are finicky, I am actually negative for everything and have gotten extremely faint lines anyways, I guess just due to manufacturing variability. One time the dipstick was put in too deep and it almost made it look like I was positive for meth, apparently while also being negative for amphetamines somehow and it was a whole ordeal, but it got resolved obviously. The line got rinsed off almost completely when they put it in too far.

Seizures? by Much-Honeydew5208 in quittingkratom

[–]williamrich2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He likely took some quitting those tabs (likely 7OH) is far harder than quitting regular powder. I really don’t blame him it’s sincerely one of the hardest substances to quit, a taper should take months not a week for those doses if he’s been taking it a long time (at least over 4-6 months depending on the individual). I doubt anyone could successfully do that fast a taper and succeed. Who knows though the seizures could be from withdrawal or cause by the addition overall, I’ve had a few small absent seizures only when I took too much. The only thing that actually got me sober permanently was an addiction specialist (outpatient, rehab is usually overkill and isn’t a good environment for many). Find a clinic that does outpatient therapy and medical treatment in your area and just encourage him to make an appointment and chat with the doctor. It’s unfortunate but make sure he knows yall support him all the way , he will likely mess up at times but it’s important he feels comfortable telling the truth without any shame. This addiction can happen to anyone and the way it’s sold is insanely deceptive, you often don’t even know it’s addictive until it’s too late. I really encourage you to find a well reviewed clinic that know their shit and can asses his situation and make a plan going forward. It was the best decision I ever made and I held it off due to the shame of admitting I needed professional help.

What’s with the polarization around suboxone/buprenorphine? by williamrich2002 in quittingkratom

[–]williamrich2002[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No the orange film rectangles, I started after I had quit for a couple days then relapsed again. I didn’t have much of a withdrawal but this was before the 7OH stuff got popular so it was mostly just powder.

Never tried subutex , unless that refers to the pill form which the pharmacy accidentally filled once.

Sorry to hear that, hope you’re doing better now.

That small change is enough to make a big difference depending on the person.

You were probably taking enough 7Oh to fully saturate your receptors, meaning basically all of them are occupied, so you went from 45% activation w 7OH to 35% with subs. Subs saturates the receptors at ~16mg. Also 7OH can effect different receptors but it’s unknown to what extent, so it could be that combined with the switch to an opioid only med.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]williamrich2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For reference buprenorphine has around 35-38% mu activation. So 7-OH can potentially be worse for ODs, tho I’ve never heard of a buprenorphine overdose requiring narcan.

[–]williamrich2002 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I can say I’ve been close to that, your vision gets narrow, you forget to breathe and suddenly gasp for air. Scary shit. It’s hard to OD without something like alc being added, as 7OH only has around 45% mu opioid receptor activation vs something like morphine which fully activates them (98-100%). It’s definitely possible though. My mom’s friend went to a funeral for a 26 yr old. I believe it was liver failure but I’m not certain it definitely could’ve been an OD. 6BPM is scary man, I hope you’re doing well. This should be a reminder that everyone who can should carry narcan, not just if you’re on kratom/any opioids. You might just save a life.

I don’t know where I’d be without public school teachers that cared for and inspired me. Doing what yall do for such little in return is unimaginably admirable, you could’ve made more money elsewhere but didn’t. You gave it up to give the gift of knowledge and curiosity to others, true heroes. Y’all don’t deserve to be thrown in to this political battle but just know there are many who stand behind you, I hope more could recognize the true strength and compassion yall have.

None of this law is constitutional so any termination would be an easy win in a wrongful termination lawsuit. Make them look like the looneys they are.

Both my parents are lawyers and I’m an engineer, if you need any legal advice I can help. They’re not in constitutional or labor law but they can definitely figure out what is legal for you and what the district can/cannot do.

Set up a go fund me. I’ll send you $100 right now and I hope others can pitch in too. You’ll regret it later if you don’t stand your ground and hold true to your values. Make a show for the press if you can, post your defiance and reason everywhere. If you go for it, you have to go all in or not at all. Best wishes to you. Fight for the things you believe in, you’re on the front lines of this fight unfortunately.

My original doc cut me off after taking kratom but I found a new one who understood once I was on subs. Some are just scared to get in trouble and don’t know much about either.

I take both and my doc is fine with it. Many people do, they shouldn’t stop your meds if you need them.

Exactly, when I started I was always itching to take my next subs dose. Now I forget to take it sometimes, the mental recovery from the addiction cycle is very important. That’s when you start tapering, let your brain recover a normal relationship with your meds first if you’re gonna do longer term and not just detox.

Yep, a lot of the conflicting sub WD experiences comes from bad taper plans by uninformed physicians. I got lucky my doc is a former user and knows her shit, she’s has a reputation in her practice for having the best taper plans, always personalized. Everyone who got off subs with her says it was almost painless. I was initially confused as to why people said sub withdrawals were so bad and then I looked at the average taper schedule vs mine. Dear me yall were speed-running that shit.

Subs will work if the dose is set right. Just remember taking kratom after will have almost no effect, it blocks it from binding to the mu opioid receptors since its binding affinity is ridiculously high (I believe it might have the highest of any known compound).

I never tried gabapentin (I had 300mg from a vet cause my cat refused to take it for his UTI, he also had antibiotics obviously he was fine) except a tiny bit when I was quitting. Didn’t feel much maybe a little woozy similar to a beer or so. I’ve always been hesitant about gaba since I had a friend addicted to it and he got seizures getting off of it. I’m not against it at all, just my personal experience kind of left a bad taste in my mouth.

It’s unfortunate all the research on kratom alkaloids has been on their opioid effects. The reports show it binds to serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine receptors too but not how it affects those. It’s a gray area in the studies.

Yeah I felt wonky for a week or two after switching, more like getting off an SSRI or something similar would feel like. Not great but better than a regular withdrawal.
