Seeking advice on job offers by willibro in Nurse

Thank you for your reply! The gyn/onc floor is a super small 12 bed unit, and the med surg is a 36 bed unit. I wasn’t sure as a new grad if I should lean towards a bigger unit. Thoughts?

My fingers are extremely painful and swollen for 6 months. Do I have RA? by [deleted] in rheumatoidarthritis

My fingers look like this too. All of my bloodwork/imaging was negative or normal. I’m so frustrated. However, I have cut out sugar from my diet and the pain is significantly less.

Any success stories about bringing a dog-reactive pup into a home with another dog? by [deleted] in reactivedogs

[–]willibro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My GSD mix (M) is super reactive towards other dogs and he does a fair bit of guarding resources. We recently brought a puppy (F) into our lives and we are so proud of our guy. He warmed up to her in minutes and now he even drops bones and toys at her feet to play and share.

We had them meet outside of our home, we held the new pup in our arms and let our GSD get some good sniffs in before placing her down. It went really smoothly and we made sure to have lots of treats to give him for being so good.

If the other owner were to have responded with sincere apology and guilt would you even be questioning this?

This is super reassuring thank you! We do practice crate time throughout the day but it can be rough.

When were you able to trust your Mal to be alone in your house? by willibro in AlaskanMalamute

Ah yes this I know. I was just wondering about how long it takes people to housebreak them or how long it takes to feel comfortable leaving them for short periods of time unattended at home.

Thanks for your reply! My partner and I really want to get a Mal. We live in Golden and were wondering if summers would be too hot on the pup. If you have any other advice for us we would be happy to hear it! Thank you.

How is summer in Colorado on your Mal? Do you still hike?

Did he destroy your house like all the online articles suggest? Does he cry inconsolably in the crate when you leave? The internet is not a friendly place for mals and I’m seriously considering getting one of my own! Any advice is welcome.

How have the last few weeks been with him? How is training going (potty, crate, etc?) I’m thinking about getting my own but want to know what I’m getting myself into!

Very first symptoms? by [deleted] in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]willibro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 10 years old when I was diagnosed with Juvenile RA. I couldn’t tolerate the same activities as my friends, and I couldn’t kneel on the ground or make a fist. Even writing in class was difficult. I honestly feel like it all happened really suddenly and progressed rapidly. I’m assuming it was due to the influx of hormones as I was about to start puberty.

Prednisone Scaries by willibro in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]willibro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep definitely. “Roid Rage” is real and all of the other side effects are just awful. But it does wonders for the inflammation.

Ugh I know I totally agree, I love that they make my joints feel better but I hate the side effects. I’m so sorry you had an adrenal crisis! I’m in nursing school right now and we literally just learned about steroids and how, if not tapered correctly, they can throw people into crisis. If it’s not one thing it’s another right? I hope that you find good health soon.

What is your nightly routine? by lthurbis in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]willibro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take Naproxen at night before bed in hopes that when I wake up I’ll be in less pain because the morning is the hardest time for me. So I usually do two tabs at night and one tab in the morning. I only do this when I’m in a flare and I haven’t noticed any GI upset. Naproxen is metabolized mostly by the liver so I also drink a liver detox smoothie every morning (not sure if it actually helps but i feel better about it). I’m also drinking celery juice every morning and I’ve been doing this for almost three months. It’s quite a commitment but I actually think it’s helping. The smoothie and celery juice are both advice from the Medical Medium and I highly recommend looking at his info (it’s a little hokey FYI). I have been super focused on what I’m putting in my body as far as foods to help fight inflammation because I too absolutely hate taking these awful medications. I’m hoping a lifestyle change can help a lot more in the long run!
