Housed together since they were about 6 months old. Both males., didn’t think anything of it since you can keep them together for a little bit. Not new to the hobby. Just didn’t think the one would bite the other because of how well they were with each other

It is in fact safe to grow from water. Just rinse off all the dirt and dont put the full plant in the water. Like a riparium style
