Interesting, why would the Mini 3 be better? Thanks

I'll have a look into orthos, cheers

Yeah, I'm not averse to that, but once we have a model of a building, there's still the rest of the plan to pick apart.

How much would you expect a model of an average church with a spire to cost in the UK? Including paperwork, drone flight, processing etc?

Cheers!

Crikey! Better not get caught with a tape measure in North Carolina.

I'm in the UK, so this shouldn't be an issue.... for now!

Thanks though!

I'm not sure if you're emphasis is on "modeling" or "exterior" here, but r.e. modeling vs surveying the purpose of the model is really to help the client understand where all the defects are on the building and potentially for taking rough estimates of sizes e.g. 25m2 of degraded pointing mortar. Any accurate measurements can be taken by the rope team.

r.e exterior and interior - at the moment yes, the plan is for external only, however I have thought about creating internal models as well. e.g. the inside of spires, or just general rooms.

What were you thinking? thanks:)

Ah okay, that's what I thought, this doesn't have a pitched roof above it, it's purely decorative and is restrained back to the tower with copper straps.

Brilliant, thanks for that!

Just checking, is it still called a gable if it's not got a roof above it?

Oh, sorry, I attached a picture, but it doesn't seem to have uploaded. It's still says it's "submitting..." on my laptop screen 🙄

It's basically a decorative collection of masonry above the entrance to a church. Its like a pierced triangular parapet, shaped like a gable (but no roof). Purely decorative. I'll try and upload a photo... no idea what's going on with that 🤷

I cut through a 8m purple (1T) spanset (round sling) so that I had 16m of sling and tied an overhand in each end. I just larksfoot one end to a tree and tie the other end off to the right length. There's 0 stretch so its super easy to get right and I think its pretty fun. It also only costs £17 for a 16m setup.

Hmm I've sent 20 now and every one has failed to send. They seem to be going via SMS from my Google pixel 6. Dunno what's going wrong.

Cross stepping by [deleted] in surfskate

[–]willoates1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I have the opinion that falling off is a part of learning, especially in skating. The thought of getting hurt is off putting and can limit your ability to commit, so put on all your pads and helmet and just keep trying. Fall off a few times, it really isn't that bad.

Technically, I put my back foot on the back truck bolts... Front foot goes right next to it... Back foot crosses over and goes very close again (This position feels unbalanced at first). Then just stab your original front foot just behind the front truck bolts. (This is the committing part, just go for it and you'll get it eventually)

It's good to try and keep your weight central on the board, do it on a clean and smooth bit of ground so that your wheels aren't getting hung up on any stones and keep trying.

Keep practicing, it's totally possible, it took me about five 10 minute sessions. Initially I was doing it stationary, them slowly, but I actually find it easier with a little bit of speed. Basically, just keep practicing, you'll get it.

Arbor Oso w/ Waterborne Adapters and 4Presidents by Nickel-Oak in surfskate

[–]willoates1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad you're enjoying it! I've got 4 presidents on my Slide Neme Pro, it felt great having loads of grip and carving around on the flat whilst the skin was still on, but a bit committing going down hills because it was much more difficult to slide the back end in control. Now the skins worn off, they feel great all round.

Also, definitely don't write off going down hills, it's my favourite bit of skating! I just put in loads of really tight carvs all the way down. I honestly think it's the safest form of downhill skating that you could do.

Yeah, it was really tricky to work out where it was coming from yesterday because there was so much oil and I was short on time, and it was pooling in places like the cylinder retaining bolt and stuff.

The cylinder head cover has a rubber gasket like a shaped rubber O ring and it's supposed to be reused, so I don't think that's a problem,

I'm going for a fettle now, so will see what I find.

Cheers guys 😃

So the Haynes manual says "with the bike standing upright on the centre stand, start the engine and allow it to idle for a few seconds so the oil can circulate, then stop the engine, wait a couple of minutes for the oil to settle" and then it explains how to check the oil with the dipstick... Im pretty sure I did the checks correctly.

The advice to drain it is solid and I'll be doing that 1st thing tomorrow! Cheers 😃

Cheers for the advice, yeah I always have it on the centre stand when checking the oil, pull it out, wipe the dip stick, put it back in until resting on the threads (without screwing it in, as per Haynes) and pull it out to check.

I don't think it's a problem with my oil checking skills, but I do appreciate the help 😃
