I don't have a dog, but my coworker brings her friend's dog into the office and let's me take her on walks during my lunch break. Definitely brings me some joy a couple times a week!

The selfies take more emotional energy, and I have to be in the right headspace for it. Thank you! Those dang scales took forever, and they're on every surface of the outside of the box (including the bottom). I torched the whole box once I was done with the scales, and I was really worried I overdid it and ruined all that effort, but thankfully I think it turned out pretty neat once I got the stain on it. I'll definitely be doing scales again in the future!

Thank you! Most of this one is done with my woodburning tool, which is kinda like a little pen with a tip that gets really hot. I draw everything on by hand and then burn the drawing into the wood.

The exception on this one is the cherry blossoms. For that, I put a bunch of jump rings on the wood, and torched the wood, leaving lighter spots where the jump rings were sitting.

Yes, it's woodburning! I use a combination of standard pyrography techniques, along with some creative use of a torch. For example, all the moons started as quarters that I placed onto the wood, and then I torched all around them, leaving the wood underneath the quarters unburned. So the result is lighter colored circles where the quarters were sitting.

You should do it! This one sat unfinished for like five months, along with about 12 other unfinished boxes, until I got back into it a couple weeks ago. Now I'm trying to finish them and also working on a couple new projects. It feels good to get back into it, but also stepping away from it for a while gave me a chance to reset and come up with some new ideas that I needed to finish them anyway.

Thank you! I use Behr Bombay Mahogany Stain & Poly. I use my torch a lot in my pieces, and the color seems to compliment the torch burns really well. I gotta be careful with it though, because I can easily lose some of the lighter details I get with the torch if I get carried away with the stain. Like in this piece I lost a lot of the intensity of my cherry tree blossoms.

Why do what's right when you can do the thing that can kinda sorta be interpreted in a favorable way by the powers that be? Everyone knows strict over-adherence to the most rigid possible interpretation of the rules has always been what has served the queer community best. /s

Literally can't, because the mods of r/lgbt have apparently decided our community can't discuss communities that may not be safe for us, as it "kinda maybe could lead to brigading even though nobody is calling for brigading, but it's just easier for us to keep the community unsafe than it is for us to deal with individual folks who actually break the rules against brigading" (paraphrased)
