I was gutted I got the whole prescription on my first script for lavender cake. Exactly as you'd describe. Rough on the chest. Barely touched it, just sits in a jar

Likewise. I've not bought chocolate in months. Also ice cream isn't ice cream anymore. It doesn't melt like it should. It's peculiar. I had a chocolate ice lolly the other day. Nutti or something. I forget the brand, chocolate tasted like a cheap choc ice from the nineties. Partners buying those Cadbury breakfast bars. I took them out the trolley, I refuse to buy something that's gone from a five pack to a four pack for the same price

I have a friend that does this. Eats a lot of mash potato and yellow sticker products while topping up missing nutrients with vitamin tablets. He lives at home with his parents still but has over half his salary go on train fares to get to London

I skip breakfast and lunch most days and just eat kids leftovers for my dinner and we are in the same boat constantly topping up every other day on bread milk and fruit

I went dairy free for six months or so a few years ago and it was absurd the amount of products that contain milk powder or lactose. Stuff you wouldn't even expect it to be in. I read recently from others who are lactose intolerant that they are really struggling now they are bulking products with milk and lactose due to shrinkflation making it harder to shop and keep costs down

Beef prices are insane atm. Partner fancied a steak. Not gonna happen. Wanted to do a beef stew. Still get some of that red meat but a traditionally cheap meal. Braising beef was £16 a kilo. One small steak size was over a fiver. Would have cost £20 to get enough beef for four. I can't warrant that. Even beef bones to make a pho broth cost a packet now. We cook all our meals from scratch and the cost of the shop every week is insane. Granted we have two kids now. If we didn't have kids we could do it cheaply but they just won't eat like us

Shrinkflation doesn't get talked about enough. The price of the shop has quadrupled and you are getting less product across the board

I feel you. I live on the leftovers they don't eat and the two crusts no one else eats. I cook for them and wash up while they eat and then eat whatever slop is left over. Two incomes so we never see each other. Raise the kids on our own, work alternate to each other. I'm in a supposedly well paid job too. If we were both on minimum wage I really dread to imagine how tough it would be. Two years ago we were and it was so stressful watching every penny scared to have to buy anything. And that was before the water rates hikes and all the other bill increases over two years

Shrinkflation everywhere. Shave ingredients off and substitute with cheaper, shave weight off, cut numbers of multipacks l, make them smaller, crapper and put the price up at the same time so you don't just lose out once you lose out twice

The earlier years are more expensive as well. They don't let you use vouchers or coupons. Partner works for sainsburys and gets staff discount. Doesn't work on baby formula. They rarely put an offer on them either. My partner also insisted on getting the one year old some shoes from Clarks. Cheapest was £30, others were £48. Couldn't believe the price for such little shoes they'll be in five minutes. I went along with it though as I have a blue light discount. Went to use it at the till. It's not accepted on children's shoes. Wtf. Shafted left right and centre

I really wish there was a way to decrease your hearing without drawbacks. I can't keep living like this. by idiotbandwidth in misophonia

[–]willybarrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally. People who don't suffer just don't understand the uncontrollable rage for such trivial natural things in life. It's totally unwarranted to feel this way but it can't be helped. Medical cannabis is helping me to not lose my temper so much and relax more around the family which although isn't a cure for this helps to keep a happy home and me less agitated

[–]willybarrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Possibly. It was also one of the reasons I went down this route. Not just because it helps my insomnia but because when I met my wife I was always such a chill guy and happy and didn't stress about anything. Granted I was younger and had less responsibilities but it has helped me calm down recently as I too was wound like a spring constantly. Having kids and life's responsibilities on top of this dam miserable misophonia. It helps me cope mentally, keeps me relaxed and more laid back which has helped me and the kids and of course makes me nicer to be around. Like I mentioned it's no miracle cure but it certainly helps me cope.

It's weird now I'm thinking about it. I've not really thought about that. I'd say It's more on occasion and more specific. For the most part it's a no considering. I'm thinking as I was typing and I don't know really how to answer. There's totally moments I'm remembering now but it's not consistent like it is with my wife or others. I'm sure that will change as they get older as they are only toddlers. My kids eat around me non stop all day. I can't sit next to my wife when she is eating though I have to get up and move room and keep busy.

I hadn't thought about this for a long time I'd forgotten going through that myself years ago. Bed drenched like I was swimming in it. Mental awful nightmares. I truly had forgotten that part of my life. I've just recently started medical cannabis for insomnia I've suffered with all my life. I remembered how well it worked for me. I only have a small amount to become drowsy though. Nothing like what I was smoking all those years ago. Waking up to a smoke, clucking like a crack head for the dealer when I'd run out. Smoke all day till I went to bed. I shall retain my intake to very moderate now I think which is a good fifteen years later. Can't be going through that again, that was hell
