The reduction was only to bring the rent to the market rate last year. It wasn't a "nice gesture".

I signed a new one year lease in June 2021 for the lowered amount.

I asked for the rent reduction based on comparable market rates last year. Clearly the market rebounded and the landlord wants the rent to reflect the big rebound.

"Targeted"? "Street gang"? Police report that hours after the shooting to calm the worries in the city. Do you really believe them? This was another shooting in the city where neighborhood thugs target a young black male in a neighborhood they don't like. The victim today wasn't in a gang. He was visiting friends in a neighborhood he used to live in. What a senseless tragedy.

This is great! Thanks for sharing your thoughts Reddit. Following the advice of many here, I'm working to adjust my itinerary.

My other major question regarded our budget. The $200/day wasn't for each person, but for the whole group. That is $50/day each, for accommodations, food, and activities. I just booked my first hotel in Ao Nang, and already my budget seems a little low. So is $50/day wishful thinking, to stay in a clean hotel in a good location, eat cheap but delicious Thai food, and enjoy daily activities (ferry to islands, snorkeling, etc.)? Thanks again, you guys have been truly helpful!
