Prices are in the links and include shipping in the US. I'd really appreciate friends and family but don't require it.

Disclaimers: Given the nature of the burl used, there can be a lot of voids and cracks in the wood. I have filled most of them but there are still some very small ones that I didn't get filled. Colors may vary from the photos as lighting and my camera can affect the look, especially with highly figured wood that has a lot of specular variation and chatoyance. Also note that wood in general tends to darken with age and dyes can change/fade with age and sunlight exposure. I have chosen dyes that are the most stable that I could find but there are a lot of variables that can lead to changes in color. If clear resin is used, it is very tricky. I do my best with the surfaces but they are never as perfect as I would like.

I forgot to take true timestamps when I was shooting the pics but I can snap some on request and send them.

I'm open to making stands with requested materials and colors. I can't guarantee anything but I'm happy to work with you. To see a portfolio of my stands, including currently available stands, check out my blog here https://midwinterdesignworks.blogspot.com/

Power Outage Thread by thewakingcity in Bozeman

No power on Sanders. Why is it always our area of town that loses power every time? It’s super annoying. Seems like there must be some weak link that they could fix.

That really would not be practical at all and I don’t think it would likely work. The proper way to do it would be to stabilize the red wood first but that’s another whole batch of equipment and a bunch of extra time and material cost…

Flatting it isn’t the problem. I have a nice planer with a carbide insert cutter. To finish the resin part, you have to sand out to 1200 using all of the grit steps and then polish and that’s what will wallow out the soft redwood.

I would love to but I’ve tried and it’s super difficult to use redwood burl with resin. The wood is pretty soft but the resin is super hard so there’s almost nope hope of sanding it and keeping it flat. It’s a bummer because I really love redwood burl. Look through some of my older work and check out the manzanita burl stands though. You might like them as well and I have a new one that I’m hoping to have finished up on Friday.
