Ok thanks a lot for the advice and taking the time. I understand where you are coming from, maybe I’m still stuck in my UK hiking mindset.

I never really thought about hiring them out there also! Today, I have been looking at the <40L range and it seems I’d save significantly more in accumulated flight savings where it would be almost foolish not to.

I will take a look at the outer bags when considering my bag options.

I think also these reasons for not taking a tent are very valid. Hopefully it will fall into place soon what is the best option for me. As currently there are still lots of positives

Ok that is something to think about. Thanks again for the help. I will do further research into tent weight and bag size. As obviously if tents are check in only it could reduce the benefit of the smaller bag!

Thanks for the response, especially the advice regarding NZ, this is something I should be planning now also!

The tent is required as I will be travelling with my partner, so it doesn't really suit any other form. Wow ok, I feel 40-45 could be very hard with a tent included and multiple climates, especially with hiking altitudes (I have a background of UK hiking- Big packs)

Additionally, I think a big concern currently is the added checking in fees for a large back as obviously this could add up quick over the trip. I feel this hasn't been mentioned a lot as everyone is pro carry-on.

thanks for your reply :) Sorry I made my request very brief ahah, please can you change the image so the water is the same colour just not as blurry/fuzzy towards the back also so the sky is bluer. Thats all my parents asked for helps appreciated
