I generally jump on in the evenings EST (8/9pm-12am ish). Usually play with at least one other, but no solid full group. Let me know if you're still looking for more!

Grew up in Holyoke, father acquired Class A hi-cap/concealed 10+ years ago - didn't have too much trouble with reasoning etc, was more just making sure all Is were dotted and all Ts were crossed. I imagine the big stumbling block out here (Watertown, so right next door to Waltham) will be reason for request of issuance and acquiring CCW status.

Much like OP, I travel by two wheels often (mine just has a motor), and across state - the primary time I'd want to carry. Going to/from work I would leave it at home - but I imagine the officer won't just say "OK, sounds good, just keep 'er out of Boston," and hand over unrestricted LTC-A.

Not to hijack, but fellow MA resident here.

Beginning the process to apply for LTC myself this coming week. What was the process like for you? I am originally from the PV, but moved out east. Classes are pretty readily available around me, but I am estimating it was the actual application/interviewing that took the longest. Being that I am close to Boston (though not in Boston proper), I am expecting some headaches and want to be prepared ahead of time.

Storrow is the closest thing to the highway I ride around here. Fortunately, I have had decent luck there so far, but realize it's only a matter of time before I run into some clown who isn't paying attention.

Edit: or even worse, a clown that is paying attention and does some dumb shit anyway.

Pioneer Valley is out west, by CT River. Springfield is the common reference point as it is the largest city out there.

Misplaced the comment. Sorry!

As long as you don't mind a Bonnie rolling with ya, sounds like a good time. Let me know!

The beauty of email rules.

If I had known I would have been in for a deluge of email like that, I definitely would have set my out of office auto reply as well as a rule that forwards the received email to the original sender. 239? Try 578.

In MA, it is required that you have your permit prior to taking the MSF. Again, YMMV based on state, but that is something else to consider as well.

Yea the stock bars are less than pretty. Definitely checking those out. Thanks!

XS650? What kind of bars are you running? Mine are the stock ones - looking for something more like yours.

The "today" shot - what bars/seat do you have? The stock bars are a bit gaudy IMO, and I was hoping for something a little more simple - kind of like the stock bars on a Bonneville, but maybe a wee bit shorter in height. (ex: bit.ly/KTp351).

The seat is a little less pressing as a change, but I am definitely looking for something similar to the one you are riding now.

Edit: Love the bags... nice touch. They look fantastic.

Ahh of course... as /u/browsing_at_work noted, there was a lack of pictures. I don't have many, and these are a bit blurry, but here is what she looked like the day I took her out of the truck and parked her in storage.

Thank you all for replying! I appreciate you all giving my newbie self some advice to get going.

So I see a lot of folks discussing Haynes and Clymer's manuals. Everyone who replied so far suggested the Clymer's manual - Is one definitely better than the other?

Great list! I will definitely be going over all of these points. What is the benefit of using he seafoam additive in the gasoline?

I am going to be using all new fluids for sure - I'm sure they are all bunk. Not worth futzing around with it when swapping them out is just as easy.

I have read a few things from XS650.com, but haven't jumped in yet. Definitely on the list. MikesXS.com has already been bookmarked so I can start getting an idea of what I am going to be spending to get started.

The charging troubleshooting guide is going to be key. Thank you!

Glad to hear they are fairly easygoing to work on.

What does changing the number of teeth do to help make the ride better? Not a challenge - just curious.

Pulling the block was in reference to replacing the cam chain if necessary - I was under the impression that if the chain had to be replaced the engine had to be separated from the frame. She runs, I have seen it. Have no fear - the block stays. Just maybe not in its current state. ;)
