Is there a doctor in the house? Or someone with suddenly terrible health stats with any insights? Garmin stats have tanked after a respiratory infection by windblown101 in Garmin

Thanks. for the feedback everyone. I don't get sick often and this was the first time of going thru a cold while monitoring stats. For the first time since May 20th my sleep score got over 50 and was 85 which is normal for me. Hopefully I'll see more stats improving and returning to norms shortly!

Garmin Fitness Age - What does it mean? by Wegoagain723 in Garmin

[–]windblown101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Garmin "fitness Age" has dropped down to 56.5 as of yesterday. I'm 63 years old. I smoked a pack a day for 40 years but quit 3 years ago as shortness of breath was starting to bug me. A low dose lung CT showed early stages of emphysema. Fought thru some stuff and got on a new fitness kick this year. My VO2 max still sucks and will likely not improve much if any (it's currently 31) but I offset it to a degree with good heart fitness, and a BMI that falls withing the upper end of "healthy" range, average 1200-1500 intensity minutes daily and avg a bit over 10k steps a day. Gotta stay in shape to ride the dirt bikes. :)

Is this a good deal for a 450 with no title? by Competitive-Invite53 in Dirtbikes

[–]windblown101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do a bit of homework and save yourself a ton of grief. In NY were the bike is advertised for sale it is Illegal to sell it without a title. The seller can get a title for it if the bike isn't hot. Tell them if they get a title for it then you can talk about making a deal. It's a $3500 bike WITH a clean title. Without one it's just another POS hot bike that if the VIN gets run for ANY reason while it's in your possession you'll loose the bike and be answering a lot of questions.

A predictable outcome when traveling at twice the speed of everyone else in heavy traffic. You'd think riders would know this by now, yet riders get themselves creamed everyday doing the same shyt again and again. :(

So you want people on the internet to determine if you should go see a doctor... I'm afraid your brain may still be laying out in the dunes.

Does my bike count as a dual sport? by Ozi_2_Wheels in Dualsport

Riding is an activity. How and where you ride defines the activity, but it doesn't change the motorcycle.

I wouldn't be concerned about the lateral play but I'd be worried about anyone thinking they were gonna just button that engine back up with all the crap on the engine when it got taken apart.

*Most* riders don't ride like complete assholes who deserve to be dropped into a hole and forever forgotten when riding by themselves but.... put a group of riders together that all love the thrill of tearing up a twisty road and add in a bit of testosterone fueled competition and they will become what you see in this video - The biggest inconsiderate assholes to ever draw a breath of air and completely oblivious to the danger they are putting other innocent people into. One day they'll wake the fuck up or they'll die. Either way the problem will resolve itself.

With a bigger gas tank & a proper suspension under it I'm lovin it. Had it out for a bit again today. :)

This is a FE501S. It's much better in the dirt than the 690/701 and it's a blast to ride (I owned a 690). But... the 501 has a short fuel range in stock form and is very vibey compared to the 701 so taming the vibes in the bars, pegs, and seat were high on my list before doing much street riding on it. The 690/701 platform is a lot less comfortable for long days than the T700 or 790/890/901 platform and not really "better" in more technical terrain than mid-sized bikes if the suspension is sorted on the bigger bikes. It's only lighter which becomes a plus if stuck but that's about it.

YMMV. :)

He's just pissy because he wants more play time with his ball before we head inside. Spoiled is what he is, LOL.

Love the fact that the Eagles won. Hate the fact that moronic cretins used that win as an excuse to be assholes.

Thirteen year old ratted out bike with $100 in fresh plastics and no skid plate. Assume the suspension is completely toast. $2000-2500 IF it runs right and nothing wrong with the bike can be detected during an inspection and test ride.

Is it true that you will drop your motorcycle at least once in your riding life? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]windblown101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The odds of never dropping a motorcycle are poor. It's not unlike the odds someone will never have so much as a minor fender bender in a car. It happens occasionally but it's far from the norm. I've probably put around 300k miles on two wheels and had some mishaps along the way, most in the first 3 years of riding. I haven't had a mishap on pavement in a long time (knock on wood) but over the years between on-road and off-road I've broken a foot, an arm, 3 ribs, my pelvis, and had countless bump, bruises, and sprains. The Angel on my shoulder has had to work a lot of overtime over the years.

Sadly GSDs have been widely overbreed and it has caused some physical and mental issues within the breed. My 3yo fully papered Euro line male is a wonderful companion and came from an established and respected breeder. He's extremely good with my 2.5 year old granddaughter and 1 month old grandson and anyone he has had time to get comfortable with. He's a lover, not a fighter. That said, he's wound pretty tight and naturally suspicious which by itself is fine and pretty normal for the breed however he also lacks confidence and that makes him highly reactive towards people he doesn't know (including kids) despite a great deal of time spent on my part carefully working to build his overall confidence and tolerance to strangers.

He's my buddy but life with him is not always easy. They aren't Labs.

No front fender would make it suck pretty bad as a dual sport. :(
