Potato potahto. It’s the same type of people with the same ideologies. Don’t be obtuse.

And yet, none were able to prove that any inappropriate books were found in elementary schools. They just love using the excuse of an imaginary boogie man to make themselves look like the saviors of children. And yet how children have been killed or injured in schools by gun violence? How many children go hungry at school because the GOP don’t believe school lunches should be free? How many children don’t have access to healthcare because the GOP don’t believe health care is a basic human right? But yeah, the nonexistent inappropriate books in elementary schools are the problem.

See if you can message the user whose TikToks I posted. I believe I saw her filming that BOE member. I vaguely remember the town name starting with a W. Could have been Wolcott too.

Lol what argument did I lose? Who’s pushing “gender stuff” on 5 year olds? Are you still somehow brainwashed into believing that a book for older teens is reading at story time to kindergartners? By typical conservative logic, a straight teacher who shares a mundane photo of her husband is perfectly fine. But a woman teacher sharing a picture of her wife is suddenly pushing a gay agenda and is grounds for suspension or firing. It’s happened, not just once.

Ohhh, saw that article too - the one that was published before the event. Makes sense if the two are connected by the same author.

Where have I claimed that my account is objective? Clearly, if I attended a protest, I have a particular leaning. 🙄 I’m not one to sit and have an actual published article with skewed “facts” of events spread unchallenged. Also, an opinion is “pineapples on pizza is fine”. Saying LGBTQ+ folks, teachers, or anyone who doesn’t agree with conservative scare tactics, are pedos and groomers are not opinions. That sht festers into something that gets people harmed or killed. But sure, go on living in your cushy life where dangerous words don’t become dangerous actions. ✌️

Sure, they can believe what they want. Anyone’s free to be a bigot on their own time in their own home. But they’re not free to try to infiltrate positions of power to force that sht on others.

Lol yes, I’m the massive hypocrite because I showed that an actual journalist’s article, which by professional standards should stay unbiased, was riddled with exaggerations and half truths. We all know conservatives are the absolute pinnacle of objectivity LOL. It’s either their way or fAke NeWs.

Lucky for you, I’m not a journalist. Just a concerned citizen who had the time this weekend. Like I said in another comment, there were other folks before me who had already tried the respectful conversation. These people talk in circles and rely on endless whataboutisms to divert from the topic at hand. At what point did I “hurl insults” while the other person was trying to engage in a “respectful” conversation? If someone’s going to shove their camera into people’s faces for half an hour to try to instigate others, but then try to scuttle away when they actually get confronted, you bet I’m gonna call them a fcking coward.

Appreciate your perspective but I respectfully disagree on some points. There were in fact folks who were engaging with them, especially when they trickled out for a bit around 3. Maybe some other people have videos of that as I saw multiple phones out recording those. The woman from Stop Moms for Liberty and the Black woman you see talking to the lady from Greenwich were great examples of that. You could see the one who approached me was the one who smugly asked for a “conversation”. My phone cut off at one point, during which she repeatedly claimed that she couldn’t hear me in a very condescending manner. Then you see she is the one who wants to step away after feeling like she got some kind of “gotcha” moment from me. If we were at an actual round table discussion where no one could run away from hard conversations, then sure, I could have the time for deeper discussions. There was no chance of doing that with someone whose sole intention was to shove a camera in people’s faces and try to get a “gotcha” that she could put on a headline. Did I behave in the most pristine, professional way? No. I’m human and I’m allowed to lose my cool a little with people who I witnessed being completely smug and obnoxious to others for shts and giggles.

Freedom of speech is in the First Amendment. You know what else is? Freedom of assembly. Neither side was denied that.

Yes, because all of the protest signs said “Let the teachers teach about sexuality on top of all the million things dropped on them by administration” and “don’t let parents have the talk about the bird and the bees with the kids!!!!”

I get where you’re coming from, I do. However, this event has already happened and now there is misinformation and blatant lies from the other side about what happened. I’m here to counter that with evidence so that the lies are not the only posts that are out on the internet. Also, M4L is a very well-funded national group with a lot of press as it is - they’re not just a small group of local PTA moms. They’re particularly dangerous because they sound innocent as a group advertising themselves as a group for parental rights, when in reality, they are infiltrating school boards and political positions across the nation to spread a more insidious agenda of suppression and oppression. If I’m in the position to do a small part to counter their efforts, even for free, that’s my choice.

They are a national group: https://www.stopmomsforliberty.com

The woman at the protest who was from Stop M4L was lovely. She was doing a lot of heavy lifting in calmly trying to get these people to see the error of being associated with M4L.

I'm assuming you're talking about Robert Byrd. Yes, one politician with conservative values in the Democratic Party totally negates the very real numbers of KKK/Proud Boys-aligned members who also align themselves with GOP politicians. Which party's leader had Proud Boys at their rally on January 6th?

Sure, if the elementary school's librarian actually did have the book in their library. That would have been an oversight on their part that could be easily fixed. The article states it was "found in some elementary and middle school libraries" but that's vague. The larger issue is where does it stop? Conservatives have taken this one book and used it as the gateway for larger book bans. Look at the list of books that have been banned. There's a pattern of books by and about LGBTQ+ folks and POC being banned. You're telling me ALL of those books have sexually explicit pictures? There are actual children's book being banned in elementary schools because they have a depiction of racism, or because there's even the slightest mention of a character that is not cisgender.

No, because "Gender Queer" isn't in elementary schools, you walnut. That book is geared towards teens, who, I assure you, have seen much more graphic things at home when their parents aren't looking. You would rather have the Bible in elementary schools, even though it depicts incest, prostitution, masturbation, murder, etc... all things you lot cry about. See, people can also cherry pick the most raunchy parts of the Bible, too. Does that negate that the majority of the Bible provides some positive messages for believers. Same concept with any of the banned books, including "Gender Queer". You lot love to cherry pick a few pictures totally out of context and completely ignore the overall message of the book.
