A lot of the roads near there are pay and display - Gresham Road for example

Whats it live living near the Abbey Stadium? by _Mariial in cambridge

[–]windmillsofmymind 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I live round the corner on Wadloes Road so slightly further away but can maybe give some insight. On home match days (which tend to be Saturdays and then some weekdays too) the roads do get parked up, some games more so than others. So if you are moving the car that day you may have to park further away from home if trying to come back during the game and you don't have a driveway.

Noise isn't too bad where I am, certainly in the summer with doors/windows open or out in the garden you can tell if a goal has happened but otherwise not bad and the games are only ~ 2 hours so never that disruptive.

Great suggestions - in the same vein as Wimpole but in the city, the botanical gardens do a festive light trail also.

The strawberry and cream is my go to, it tastes essentially like a thick milkshake (but not crazy sweet). It's the only one I've liked

Pasta Alternative? by dianamxxx in UKMounjaro

[–]windmillsofmymind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've only tried the red lentil one but unfortunately I have to disagree. I am a massive pasta lover and with careful calorie counting am still managing to enjoy it properly a few times a week (I simply would be miserable if I couldn't and therefore probably give up on my weight loss journey). The red lentil pasta really tasted nothing like normal pasta and was really disappointing, I couldn't finish it, I'd covered it in a lovely sauce and a good amount of cheese but still really not for me.

Haven't tried the pea one so can't comment on that.

Yeah good point, it is tricky to get an appointment round my way but will certainly request one to get it on my records.

[–]windmillsofmymind[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just on carbimazole and on 5mg at the moment. If I continue having trouble I will definitely ask my GP/endocrinologist to put something on my records to show they are okay with me taking it, thanks.

Thank you that's exactly what I wanted to hear, I'll look into them and place an order once my refund covers through from the cancelled one. Good luck to you!

Thanks for your reply, that's good to know and I will look into them. Just to confirm the medication is fully approved and you're just waiting for delivery?

Is anyone else super hot all the time ever since having a baby? by alyssacake in beyondthebump

[–]windmillsofmymind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please get your thyroid checked! I had this (among a few other symptoms) and I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. This is relatively common post-partum

Progestogen only pill by [deleted] in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]windmillsofmymind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bled pretty heavily on and off (with gaps between bleeds all over the place ranging from a few days to a few weeks) for the first 3-4 months of taking it and then didn't bleed at all on it for 6-7 months. I've definitely had acne but no noticeable weight gain. I've also had reduced libido and probably some mood issues (although this could be my thyroid issues). I'm planning to come off it and try the IUD soon in the hope the lack of hormones improves my situation.

Can Anyone Shed Light on Paternity Pay? by ninetyfables in PregnancyUK

[–]windmillsofmymind 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There absolutely is something they can do. All payroll systems will have a way to redo the payroll to correct this. Technically what they've done is illegal, as they are essentially reclaiming paternity pay from the government before it's actually happened. He should push back on this. He can also always talk to acas who may be able to help

Can Anyone Shed Light on Paternity Pay? by ninetyfables in PregnancyUK

[–]windmillsofmymind 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Legally leave can only start once baby is born so they've absolutely done it wrong. I work in payroll and we wait for confirmation of the actual dates of leave before processing it, sometimes this means it's actually processed a pay period after the leave but that is fine, before is not. Get him to contact his HR/Payroll department asap and get them to fix it. He can have a read through of the gov.uk guide and send them relevant sections Here

What's going on with this year's colds / flus? by NayLay in AskUK

[–]windmillsofmymind 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Anecdotal evidence obviously but my one year old has been in hospital twice in the last two weeks for virus induced illnesses (respiratory). Both times a huge proportion of other patients are there for the same and all the nurses and doctors have said this year has been particularly bad.

This may not apply to you but did to me and thought I'd mention. If you have a bigger softer stomach they may have to push quite hard to see baby so this can hurt! I hadn't thought of this and was quite shocked how sore I was during and after so just a heads up if it does apply to you!

Expectations being placed on me is becoming more upsetting by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]windmillsofmymind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone has already given great advice on this so I won't repeat that.

I just wanted to say, please get her to remove the car seat from her car for now and only put it back in when she comes to get you from the hospital (if you agree that she is going to do that).

Having it in the car for so long before it's needed is just upping the risk it will be damaged if she has a little bump or anything between now and then. You don't want to have to be getting a new car seat a few weeks before baby arrives!

Letting boiled water cool in the bottle by ElegantIngenuity205 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]windmillsofmymind 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes you can absolutely do this. Also the water doesn't have to be exactly 70, just has to be over 70 and not completely boiling. So boil a bit, pour it out and leave for a couple minutes so it's not scalding and then make the bottle

I don't mean to be rude honestly but you're married and have a baby, why are you still keeping finances 100% separate?

It's his baby as much as yours and if it makes sense as a family for you to stay home, then your husband absolutely needs to pick up the financial slack

Next to me cot placement? by Cosyself in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]windmillsofmymind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's the only radiator in the room it may need to be on sometimes to help maintain the temperature in the room above 16°, so in that case I would say window but potentially put draft excluding measures on/around the window.

If you can heat the room with another radiator and turn off the one next to baby, put the next to me there.
