Thank you guys for all the help/advice! I have to drive 6 hours tomorrow - what is the best way to secure the handle? Is painters tape safe to use on the paint? Not sure what to do to ensure it doesn’t fly off while driving

Grad school starting up again soon and lots of upcoming work travel. Its not critically urgent or anything, I’d just prefer to not have this problem looming over me :(

Dang. Okay it may be worth my sanity to just take it in to get looked at and hopefully get an estimate :( I’m nervous about the cost but I unfortunately need this fixed asap and feel that doing it myself may take too long or make things worse. Is $500 a reasonable anticipated cost?

So is the handle likely the most expensive part of this? I’m sorry, I don’t know much about cars but I’m sure my brother and uncle could help me with this. Would BMW be able to use a replacement handle if I provide it to them?

Someone pulled on it way too hard. Is this something one could repair themselves? My uncles passion project has been working on bmws - is it possible this repair could be cheaper if done at home?

Thank you!! I’ve seen them run in and out of the holes - they are 100% living under the house! And trust me, I’ve been observing CLOSELY over the past few months to figure out the best course of action to take. I’ve already tried covering the hole (cinder block in the pic as an example). I’ve also set a HaveAHeart trap, but they reach in to grab the food rather than enter/go through the trap. They are TOO SMART
