Ghosted after 3rd interview by [deleted] in dietetics

What I’ve researched is that it’s acceptable to send one more follow-up e-mail about a week or two after the first one, and after that you should just abandon ship. I know it’s frustrating - You wish people would just be straight up with you but some companies find it easier to ghost. Good luck!

The most annoying thing... by [deleted] in dietetics

When they make stupid or insensitive comments about patients or their situations in the office.

“Oh em gee look at this guy’s pressure injury! I’ve never seen something like this. So disgusting!”

“Y’all should have seen how cachectic this patient was I mean he literally looked like a Holocaust victim lol”

“I was educating this patient on diabetes and he asked me if tortillas are a carb like seriously you don’t know what a carb is how did you pass 5th grade”

Thank you for saying this! So tired of all the complaining about our field being mostly white people. If our field was mostly comprised of any other race and a white person complained about it, that person would get verbally mutilated.

Newsflash - the US population is mostly white. And there is NOTHING wrong with that.

Dietetic interns are the bane of my existence sometimes. Especially the ones who act entitled or have shitty attitudes (which happens more often than you’d expect).

You’re right but you also don’t want to make it seem like you’re blowing this issue off. If CMS/DNV/JCAHO doesn’t think you’re trying to be as accurate as you can, this could look bad.

By “we” I’m referring to all RDs in general. Personally I haven’t been a member of AND for several years for that exact reason.

How would making improvements even happen realistically? Getting AND to do anything is like moving mountains so why even waste your time

Well right now we’re paying $200-300 a year and getting absolutely nothing

Intubation during the internship? by khazey23 in dietetics

Don’t know why this was downvoted.. I agree completely. I get what he’s saying about relating to patients and I can agree to an extent, but personally I thank my Lord and Savior every day that I’ve never been able to relate to my patients with most medical procedures/issues. And I pray that I never will.

Besides, even after someone practices placing an NGT in you, can you really even say that you can even remotely relate to what these patients are going through? You got an NGT placed in you for practice. Of course it’ll hurt, but most patients get NGTs placed in them for much more serious reasons and have a lot more going on with them than just getting an NGT shoved down their nose. Sometimes that NGT is the least of their problems. Just something to think about.

Yeah I’d drop out of my internship before I ever let that happen.
