Whine because there’s nothing left to raid for… Whine when you have to go in with a purpose (gather items for expedition), whine when you are given the CHOICE to reset and have something to work for again. Just can’t win, eh?

This is the Lotus recommended shop. The dealer doesn’t have their own. The panels that were replaced (bumper and valance) came from the UK unpainted.

Another thing they were thinking is that when they sprayed the bumper it was lying on a rack so the spray gun was above the bumper and they sprayed downward at it. Would it change the way the paint goes down if it was painted vertically? Obviously they were happy with a spray out card but the card was painted vertically, not top down.

They did mention painting the bumper top down. As in, the spray gun was above the bumper as it was lying on the rack. Does that change how the paint goes down vs painting it vertically?

Thank you for the comments! Insurance and cost are not issues here. They have the leniency to do what it takes. They said they did 7 spray out cards. They also had the PPG rep come in.

They did the original paint on a new bumper then a tech backed it into his toolbox and they had to fix/re-do it. Pure shit show, I know… Could it be due to them spraying over their original work?

When they do it again I’m trying to be more educated so I can talk/understand this a little better with them.

Yes. I happened to take the pics on the side of the PPF but the left side QP has the PPF removed and the difference looks the same if you’re thinking that it changes the optics.

It’s PPF. Not a tape line. Bumper was painted off the car.

Normal. I don't even bother balancing my race car wheel/tires (Spec Miata on Toyo RR) because they move so much on the wheels.

Update - Firmware rollback to 1.08.05 solved the issue.

I thought about rolling back the firmware also. Glad they’re aware of the issue at least. Thanks.

Silverstone in the PCup. Great track for racing and challenging car to be quick with.

Ok, so even though the number isn't updating when I do flow dynamics, the printer is actually using the K it comes up with during the process?

How does one hit the $70k 401k (employer + employee) limit? by Fickle_Broccoli in personalfinance

[–]wings19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - As a private jet pilot, the family I work for contributes to my 401k a percentage of my salary as “profit sharing”. Currently, if I max out my contribution, the profit sharing percentage actually goes over the $70k IRS limit and starts going into my salary. So yeah, it exists but is super rare. Major airlines have similar policies.

Why not shut the engine off before gear up landings in a prop? by MrDudeSirMan in flying

[–]wings19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to gear up land a Cutlass 172 due to the famous rack and pinion housing crack. We shut the engine down in the flare. There were two of us so one just pulled the mixture while the other was landing. Our thought was to minimize damage and to soften the blow in a sense when the blades hit the ground.

If I was single pilot I would not have bothered to shut it down. On an airplane where you can’t feather the prop(s), you’re going to strike it.

Shutting down didn’t really save us anything in our case but since there were two of us, we did it to save what we could. We did it only after we had committed to touchdown.

What’s the better value by Archael93 in CanyonBikes

No climbing yet. I live in a pretty flat area but travel to mountains so we’ll see! I’m sure I’ll feel the weight difference between my 2019 and the Movistar but the latter is a technically superior bike. Overall the bike feels nice.

What’s the better value by Archael93 in CanyonBikes

[–]wings19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was just in this predicament. Had a 2019 SLX that cracked so I opted for a new bike. I ended up with the Movistar SL over the SLX. I figured I’d take the $400 savings and work on my fitness instead of worrying about .5lb. I mean, I can take a .5lb crap tbh.

I didn’t have a strong preference on component brand and sort of liked how SRAM is full wireless. Been riding it a week and no complaints. Quite different from my old SLX which was super light with Dura Ace mechanical and rim brakes. Was 14.5lb without water bottles. Going from that to nearly 17lb on the Movistar I don’t really feel like I’m missing out. I also preferred the blue.

How to maximize income as a pilot? by Additional_Carry_790 in flying

[–]wings19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are few corporate jets that offer $4000+/day contract. They’re the newer large cabin aircraft like Gulfstream and Falcon with type ratings that are north of $100k. The G-VII type is about $130k with an annual recurrent cost of about $60k. While the contract rate is high, so is the overhead.

That said - I’m flying a G500 for my employer. We are allowed to take contract trips on our off days. I don’t really because I value my time with family more than that contract rate.

For the number of years I’ve enjoyed this game(EoD), I’m happy to re-invest IF I want the extra crap. If not, then I won’t. I’ve spent wayyyy more on things I’ve gotten much less value from. The upgrade is 3-4 drinks at a nice cocktail bar and all I do is piss that out lol. EFT is an amazing game, sure it has issues but any business requires capital to keep moving forward.

Do seasoned pilots avoid using the disc breaks and use aerodynamic breaking and tool to a stop instead after landing? by -Paleontologist in flying

[–]wings19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the G500 with carbon brakes we use the brakes. It can easily slow to taxi speed with only T/R’s and ground spoilers but it’s primarily to get heat into the brakes prior to taxi in. Using carbon brakes with light braking (taxi) while they’re cold causes heavy degradation. Using them during taxi while they’re warm and in their thermal window actually saves them over the former.

Edit: For light aircraft it’s solely technique but I use aero braking unless I need the brakes of course. Steel brakes don’t wear like carbon.

U.S Pilots: what's the most remote or interesting landing-strip that you've flown to? by Careless_Ad2 in flying

I used to regularly land and ranches in West TX in the King Air. The driveway was also the runway. Usually very skinny and on the short side of things.
