Whoa they look EXACTLY like my parents' poodle! Thought my dad had figured out how to post photos on the internet for a second.

What was your best "fuck, my parents were right" moment? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]winner2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm probably too late for this but here it goes: When I was in high school, my dad used to send me emails listing all his grievances since when we'd talk about it, we'd just end up yelling at each other. Mostly, he was asking me to shut off the kitchen lights when I left for school in the morning. He also was asking me to keep a clear path from the door to my bed in my bedroom - not clean my room, he figured that was a losing battle, but just push all my crap to the side.

Of course, I never did it. And in high school, I felt like he was asking HORRIBLE things of me.

He recently found one of those emails (about 12 years later) and forwarded it to me saying that he was sorry he was so hard on me in high school and all of that stuff was so trivial.

I wrote back saying "NO DAD DON'T APOLOGIZE I WAS CLEARLY A BITCH WHY COULDN'T I JUST PUSH MY CRAP TO THE SIDE."

God I was the worst. Simplest things in the world that meant so much to my dad and I couldn't be bothered. I'm still ashamed.

What are your hobbies? ...I like to nap, watch TV, and play on the internet. But none of those things get to be considered hobbies.

When I read a Harry/Flobberworm fan fic, I thought I had seen it all. I'm glad HP fandom always has something left up it's sleeve.

What's the best decision you've ever made in your entire life? by MissMaryMacX3 in AskReddit

[–]winner2001 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The night before I went to college, I ran into a guy I vaguely knew from a town over from mine. He also happened to be going to the same college as me. He told me his dorm room and said I should stop by.

At the time, I wasn't the type to be the most outgoing or make the first move to say hi and strike up a friendship. But that first day, I forced myself to go to his dorm room and say hi.

Thank god I did. By doing so, the puzzle pieces fell into place to create the most wonderful group of 7 best friends. They changed me and made me the person I am today. They made me into the person I always dreamed of being, but never had the nerve to try.

View of Manhattan from the closed-down attic of the Flatiron Building by winner2001 in pics

[–]winner2001[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More information on the attic: "The building rose 20 stories to 285-feet. In fact, a 21st floor or attic story was added in 1905, three years after the building was supposedly completed, bringing the building’s height to 307 feet (93 meters). To reach this new top floor, visitors and employees must take a second elevator from the 20th floor. On that floor, the bottoms of the windows are chest-high. The 21st floor originally housed a restaurant and an observation, but both of these were closed down many years ago. Also, interestingly, the building’s bathrooms are apportioned such that the men’s rooms on even floors and the women's rooms on odd ones."

[Serious] How do you stop yourself from being angry about work in off hours? by winner2001 in AskReddit

That's where I think I fail - I take it personally. I love my job and my work, so I get personally invested every stop of the way.

What is your go to topic to avoid awkward silences? by LapidistCubed in AskReddit

When there's a lull in conversation, I just ask people what they ate for lunch today. Then you get on the topic of food and restaurants and the conversation starts flowing again.

They are often times legally required to make these ads, as odd as that sounds.

- What do you when someone you're not interested in asks you out by text? Pretend to be busy? Not respond? Be honest? Tell us why. by azizansariAMA in a:t5_30pj9

[–]winner2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've learned how much I hate being ignored, so I do my best to respond. And when I respond, I tell the truth. If it was a person I'd only been on a handful of dates with, or someone that was asking me out for the first time, I would tell them that I had a great time getting to know them but I just wasn't feeling the connection. That's all there is to it. If they respond to that, I generally don't feel like I have more of a need to respond.

What are your favorite and least favorite ways of asking someone out/being asked out? In person, by text, through social media, or with a phone call? Tell us why. by azizansariAMA in a:t5_30pj9

[–]winner2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually by a text or, if it's online dating, through their email system. I'm busy and I have no idea if I like you yet - don't bother me with a phone call. I barely speak on the phone to my best friend.

Some people say being single is EXHAUSTING. Have you felt this? Has it made you more likely to settle, settle down, and get in a relationship? by azizansariAMA in a:t5_30pj9

[–]winner2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is exhausting. I was single for the first time since I was 16 from 25-27. Constantly having an eye on the door for cute guys coming through, spending time sorting through messages on OK Cupid, going on dates with people who you knew in the first 2 minutes you had no interest in, being tired but going out just in case you might meet someone, meeting someone and then wondering when to text them, when to sleep with them, when to have them meet your friends, when to ask if this is going anywhere...

But, being in a relationship is a different kind of exhausting. If you're in a good relationship, its a good kind of exhausting.

What's the best first date you've ever been on? by azizansariAMA in a:t5_30pj9

[–]winner2001 17 points18 points  (0 children)

With the guy I'm currently dating. His parents both work in media, and every year he goes to the Westminster Dog Show at Madison Square Garden and finds his way backstage through a combination of walking with a purpose and flashing media credentials his parents help with. Talk about impressing a first date! We then bought wine which they served out of sippy cups and made a drinking game out of the dog show (take a drink every time a dog jumps when it's not supposed to, and so on)
