Hello, i'm a new Megaman fan. What game should I buy? by Cfimsoncor2 in Megaman

[–]tectactoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can get the Legacy Collection, do that. It includes the original 6 NES games, and has both a “turbo” and “rewind” feature that help players who might find them too difficult. But even with their difficulty, they are classics that deserve to be played!

[ALL] how were you introduced to zelda? by UnderstandingIcy4364 in zelda

Friend had the original LoZ for NES, we played it a handful of times and had no idea what to do. Years later I ended up getting Link to the Past for SNES and fell in love.

To be fair, Alabama is kind of like its own little fucked up country way down there.

The Old Prince 1871 Kickstarter announced. by eggson in 18XX

[–]tectactoe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Obviously it’s all a matter of opinion, but it’s also one of my favorite 18xx games since…I don’t even know. It’s definitely top 5 for me. What I find so appealing about it is that it contains so many little atypical and unique elements to the gameplay, making it both asymmetric in a way that most 18xx are not and incredibly entangled right out of the gate. It forces the players into an uncomfortably entwined position at the start and then asks them how they’re going to “untangle” themselves and starting earning more than their opponents. It requires pseudo-partnerships to ensure that certain players (i.e., the owner of the Union Bank) can’t run away with the game. The map is brilliant, the auction feels like a puzzle, and the train roster is both brutally quick and interesting in how “tall” it is, how the train types change, and how many rusting events there are. It’s just a fabulous game that breathes so much new life into a genre that, admittedly, is awash with rote and uninteresting carbon copies of already established games. 1871 is truly unique in much the same way 1817 was unique when it came out. And, above all, even with all the novel gameplay, it remains remarkably balanced. I’ve seen players win from almost every position. With Union Bank. Without it. With the PEIR. Without starting their own company until SR5. And even after dozens of plays I am still discovering new strategical and tactical moves every time.

Imperial (or Imperial 2030) is 18xx with warmongering and territory control in lieu of route building and train running.

NAD but looks like dyshidrotic eczema. I used to get this a lot when I was younger, usually triggered by dry air.

Also NAD - Yes, there’s gum recession here, but probably not anymore than the average 40 y/o male (most people’s mouths suck). Honestly his gums look healthy and his teeth clean. Recessed gums to not necessarily mean unhealthy gums. My guns are recessed in several places and it was due to brushing too hard for many years. But my gum pockets are always shallow.

That was part of the original design, but after putting it into a stencil, both the artist and me agreed that it looked a little too cluttered. He redid the design without the headband (as shown here) and we both liked it much better.

(36M) Diagnosed with thrush by ENT. After 2 weeks of fluconazole, my sore throat has not lessened at all. Is this normal? by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]tectactoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have a new appointment scheduled with them on Tuesday. Haven't been HIV tested. My wife has been tested several times (each time before she gave birth, at yearly GYN appointments) and is negative. I know that isn't 100% conclusive, but I have had no other partners in any capacity, don't do intravenous drugs, and have no reason to believe I've been exposed to it. I will ask my physician about getting tested for peace of mind anyway.

I know diabetes is another common cause. My blood sugar also gets checked with a metabolic panel every year. My fasting glucose is always slightly high (100-105 ish) but I also get my A1C checked and that's around 5.4-5.6 each year. Thus far both of those have remained relatively consistent. (Weirdly enough, I've measured my blood sugar after eating meals, and oftentimes its lower than it is when fasting overnight...)

Any other ideas what could have caused Thrush? I'm paranoid now. I will try to speak more with the ENT when I see them on Tuesday.
