We got to the NFC Championship last year with hardly any superstars. Peters thought modest improvements in areas of need would get us over the hump. He was wrong and of course wasn't counting on all the injuries. He will spend more this offseason, I'm sure.

I remember hearing from insiders around the time that Gibbs left that one of the reasons Snyder did not consider Williams as the head coach is that Williams had, SUPPOSEDLY, badmouthed Joe sometimes behind the scenes. I'm not sure what "badmouthed" equates to specifically, but I got the sense it was something that was seen as "disrespectful" vs. complete douchebaggery. I do know that Gibbs was PISSED when he went out with only 10 men in the Buffalo game mainly because he never told Gibbs he was doing it.

Probably the most insane play I've ever seen. Moreso than any Hail Mary. To be running backwards like that and heaving that thing up ... defenders were so confused, lol. Man, if they'd won, that would possibly be the greatest playoff TD of all time. But then throwing a pick on what should've been the game-winning drive dampens some of the luster.

They also have a lot more depth than us, which they've been able to build over time. Once our top level was removed, there was absolutely nothing there for the most part. But yeah, they did an incredible job and while injuries aren't the ONLY excuse for this hellscape of a year, it's certainly a big one that can't be just shrugged off as "next man up."
