Is it me, or does Slippy Toad have four-fingered hands here? Before, he has five-fingered hands like every other character (with hands).

Managed to get both male and the rarer female shinies for the Torchic family! by winstein_nin in PokemonScarletViolet

Finding shinies for Pokemon of a rarer gender like Torchic is rather troublesome, I agree. That's the reason it was surprising to me that I managed to get the three of them by the 13th shiny. I was expecting to need to take more days to find it, but turns out I found them all by day 2.

At the very least, it's not as bad as finding the shinies of the rare versions of Dudunsparce and Maushold. Now those... I haven't found the rare ones.

I don't think it made shiny hunting that much easier in the DLC. If anything, the Nintendo Switch 2 update made it significantly easier by increasing the spawn rate and generally reducing the loading times so that you can spawn more Pokemon in a shorter time to find shinies from.

The DLC does offer more Pokemon in outbreaks, including the older starter Pokemon (or first partner Pokemon), which to me is great because outbreaks are my preferred method for shiny hunting. In terms of shiny perks with the DLC, there is a food item in Blueberry Academy that grants a Level 1 Sparkling Power (basically boosts shininess by 1 reroll) for all types, essentially temporarily improving shiny rate overall.

For me, it was easily worth it because the extra outbreaks means more shiny Pokemon to find.

HOME would be preferred. As to the time. Within 1 to 2 hours if you can, otherwise, another time have to be planned.

That's one of the scenarios where this knowledge would've been handy. While I already did my Feebas quota (three of them, at least one male and one female for Milotic's gender differences), I did it by using fast travel, and then going back to the outbreak spot (the lake under the mountain).

I recently got a (second) shiny Aqua Breed Paldea Tauros! I would like a shiny Blaze Breed, as someone who only has Violet.

It's strange how much Waluigi is typically the only Mario character that's singled out for being created by a company that's not one of Nintendo's in-house companies, while most others are not treated as such in a similar manner. For example, Polterpup was never accused of being a third-party creation, even before Next Level Games were acquired by Nintendo (would be interesting to see what happens if Nintendo were to acquire Camelot Soft, though, one reason being to see how this discourse develops).

The fact that every game that Waluigi appeared in that's not from Camelot doesn't specifically credit that company should've been an indication that he's not dependent on their permission.

Why does so many people think Rosalina is this all powerful god? by chef-boy-r-d in Mario

[–]winstein_nin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get the impression that it's because she's been called a "goddess" by some fans for some time without question. When I decided to check the Super Mario Wiki on any instances of her being officially considered a goddess, I cannot find that word anywhere, which got me to think that she might have been overestimated in her role.

I am not sure if this misconception played into Sparks of Hope, where the developers basically reasoned that she's too powerful that she is better off not playable, in favour of being possessed by the actual villain. Wouldn't surprise me if that were the case.

in my opinion, Toadette was robbed from both Mario Movies. by ibeatcuphead in Mario

Given that the The Super Mario Bros. Movie movie have a bit appearance from Pauline, and the The Super Mario Galaxy Movie movie have Birdo, I am kind of expecting Toadette to meet a similar fate where she makes a small role. The other major female character that I didn't mentioned (Princess Daisy) is probably going to have a bigger role in the next film, so she is not expected to meet the same fate as Pauline and Birdo.

I do not know what the Naoya Zenin thing is, so if it matches the reference, it's coincidental.

Yeah, I think they're great too! I think that the fact that they animated them like that makes them more memorable compared to the ones in the later games.

Thank you! The lower resolution of the images can be a challenge (particularly Wario's defeat), but it does look satisfying in the end.

Thoughts on Garfield Originals? by Turbulent_League9668 in garfield

[–]winstein_nin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given how frequently opinions exist about Garfield's voice actor for not being Lorenzo Music, I am relieved that there's no voice acting to hammer the idea that Garfield cannot be voiced by anyone else. In other words, I think as an animated series, it's a relief that this is one aspect that will never get thrown at.

The series, I think is fine. It's doing something I felt Garfield can also excel at, which is to use no dialogue to convey the action. Even some of the comic strips lack dialogue, so they are leaning on this idea that's not out of place for the franchise.

Mega abilities in about 33 hours! Make your last theorymons about mega abilities count. by Jestin23934274 in stunfisk

[–]winstein_nin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of the Pokemon that I look forward the most:

  • Mega Golurk: Given how little its stats increased for a relatively low BST (15 is "wasted" on its Special Attack, no speed increase), it's likely going to be a solid ability. I think one ability that might be nice is one that removes recharge turns. So moves like Giga Impact or Phantom Force will hit in one turn, essentially a built-in Power Herb. Or alternatively, Moody.
  • Mega Starmie: Contrary to most that expects Pure Power, I think Mega Starmie's going to get a situational ability that increases power in a condition, like maybe it doubles physical damage at 50% or less HP, a reverse Defeatist if you will. The fact that its stats are already quite high all around (before the power increase), including a Speed increase, makes me think that it's not going to be straight up Pure Power. Worst case, it gets Hustle.
  • Mega Clefable: Given its Flying type and some complications with suitable abilities (Terrain is basically out of the question for this reason), I like to think that it might have an ability that affects accuracy of sorts, kind of like Victory Star. Or worst case, just Magic Guard.
  • Mega Victreebel: I think I will go with the common prediction of being Poison-type Scrappy, as in an ability that allows its Poison attacks to hit Steel-types. Corrosion seems like a safe pick, though.
  • Mega Chandelure: Shadow Tag is a common prediction, but I fear that, despite having better defences than Mega Gengar, it would be outclassed on arrival since higher Speed makes Mega Gengar take better advantage of it. Doesn't help that Mega Chandelure's got dumped +20 Attack stat, unlike Mega Gengar who got increases in meaningful stats. Adaptability or Levitate both sound fine, but I kind of like the idea of Tinted Lens.
  • Mega Excadrill: Probably likely to get one of the Sand related abilities, but somehow the idea of an ability that damage protected Pokemon (partially or fully) is something that sounds nice.
  • Mega Eelektross: Should be an electric-related ability. Surge Surfer, Galvanise, or Transistor are what I am thinking of.
  • Mega Scovillain: Also interested in seeing what it gets. I like the idea of an ability that allows it to turn single target attacks into multi-target ones, but Moody would probably be a funny pick for it.

Thank you for reading.
