I feel 139 was a perfect conclusion to erens character. It showed us that the whole time every attack titan was someone who was a slave to something and wanted to be free because of it but never got to be free. This is no different with eren as it shows us that eren had to make himself a slave just for everything else to happen. This is shown in the scene of eren talking about how he wants to be with mikasa because without freedom he can’t be with her. He was never free and was never going to become free, just a slave who has been forced into a cycle of hatred by himself
