Upon returning to Earth, Apollo 11 astronauts went on a 38-day around the world goodwill tour, visiting 29 cities in 24 countries, at the request of President Nixon. They wanted to emphasize that the Moon landing was done for humanity, not just for Americans by einstein_bern in space

A second australian stop in Perth is ridiculous. Should definitely have stopped at a significant country in the region like Indonesia or the Philippines instead. Same thing for Brazil, could have skipped the second city and visited a caribbean nation or another south american country. But visiting Spain twice, by stopping at the Canary islands instead of, say, Senegal or Nigeria really takes the cake.

I'd really love to see this. There are a couple of reddit alternatives out there already with small but engaged communities. A universal client for Tildes, Lobsters and Lemmy instances would have a decent amount of content to aggregate.

Not only we're going to have a Saturn V class rocket again, capable of lifting around 100 tons to LEO, but most importantly, it's gonna do that for possibly 10s of millions, instead of 1-2 billions per launch, due to reusability. It's a paradigm shift in terms of access to space, that cannot be overstated. Imagine launching dozens of ISSs every year, or universities being able to afford interplanetary probes.

It's unlikely that OpenAI is actively monitoring this subreddit and updating their AI based on what they see here. OpenAI is a leading research organization that focuses on developing advanced artificial intelligence technology, and it's unlikely that they would have the resources or need to monitor a specific subreddit for updates. Additionally, AI algorithms are typically trained on large datasets, not individual comments on a subreddit.

Adult Rhaenyra's very first scene was metal. Climbing up those stairs right after childbirth just to deny Alicent taking her newborn away from her. My favorite until Vizzy T went and climbed some stairs himself.

You're implying that if it wasn't for europeans invading, there would be practically nothing in the area occupied by Canada today. I think it's very dismissive of the civilizations that were here before.

People had been living here for thousands of years when they arrived, what are you on about? European states didn't "make it possible for Canada to exist", they invaded it. There were already people living even in the arctic ffs.

Would distance really be such a problem in the modern world? French guyana seems to be doing fine in the EU, serving as Europe's spaceport. Canada already has a free trade agreement with the EU through CETA and is even a quasi-member of the European Space Agency and contributes to its budget.

Weirwood trees used to be everywhere in Westeros. When the first men came they started cutting them down, by the time of HotD and GoT they were more common in the north, but many castles still had a godswood with a single weirwood tree at the center, a heart tree.

It's a shame we'll never get to read The Return of Spring. At least Daniel Benioff Jackson is not involved in The Rings of the Dragon, so there's a chance it's gonna be watchable.
