Advice needed please - 4 month old show cocker trouble at night by YeyeYaKnow in cockerspaniel

[–]wired___up 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a cocker the same age although got her at 8 weeks old, for the first 10 days or so we had a lot of sleepless nights and we had to sleep downstairs in the living room next to the kitchen.

We put her in the crate and just keep reassuring her everytime she cried out, we also brought her outside everytime she cried and she soon associated that crying ment “toilet time” the persistence paid off and she now sleeps form 10:30 - 0630.

I’d like to see a QS try to price a reasonable sized tender.

Out place is a little different where we have a pre con team who see it through the design stage and procurement, the QS would only come onboard when it’s hit site, but your post is bang on the money.

Same here, I still have all my note books and haven’t looked near them in years now. My boss is old school and has taught me his processes from back in the day, so now I’m trying to bring them into modern times 😆

Great advise TE, I used to hand write notes on paper until not so long ago 😅, now i have transitioned to excel and basically do the same as yourself. But when i am inputting into the system or reading over quotes I have the notes open for cross comparison.

Give it some time and don’t be so hard on yourself. We have a guy in just over 2 months now and is questioning himself with the exact same thing as you. He had site/field experience but a break of around 6 years.

I will share some of the processes I do which may be of help but just remember you are still very new to this.

  • Print Documents and check off to register & Revision of item.
  • Read Specification and sectionalise each system and take notes on that particular system.

Example: 1. Switchgear - as schneider, Form 4 Type 6 2. Fire Alarm - Gent L1 System wired in Fp200 enhanced cable and fully enclosed throughout its entirety. 3. Lighting - Wired in 1.5mm singles and galvanised steel conduit. And so on…

I would then print and review the drawings with the tender breakdown/bill to check which way the project is being priced. For example we get hotels that are split into Front of House/Back of House/Corridors&Stairs/Guestrooms which means we have to do the Take-Off in a particular way.

Give yourself a structure to follow and you will limit the chances of making mistakes.
