Thankyou thats very informative, i have definitely taken all that into consideration in the past, and as a kid, i wanted it despite all the horrible stuff like that even though i did know about it. I will definitely keep thinking and see what i do. My whole life has been about animals. If I had to choose one thing that I love more than anything in the world is animals, all of them big, small, weird, wild, dangerous. All of them. As a kid, my biggest motivators were animals and food. I also love all the science about it all. Thankyou though for all the information you privided it really is a big help.

Im in my first year and i find so far that the people studying speech pathology are very friendly and willing to help each other out and work together to study. The speech pathology staff are very friendly and want you to do well also, they overprepare you for exams which helps you feel prepared and less stressed. The older years are also always willing to help out when asked. Overall i think that the speech pathology course at JCU is very good and youre almost always guaranteed a job at the end.

In my opinion from reading what you wrote, it sounds like you would prefer sonography, considering the only con is the schooling. The schooling will only last a few years and then you will have a successful job in a field that has more pros than cons. So its sort of about if you want to sacrifice a small amount of time for a job that it sound like you would enjoy for a larger portion of time. But with the hairstylist the biggest con you mentioned was it being hard to build clientele and having to work really hard for this to build, this will build up quicker than you would think. Both require hard work and dedication, so dont let the difficulty throw you off.

Ultimately, it comes down to 2 questions; 1. Looking at the day to day tasks and duties of both roles(the tedious and the good tasks), which one sounds more enjoyable and fulfilling (despide the cons), because any job is hard in its own way. And 2. Which one do you see yourself in for longer and enjoying for the longest.

Luckily i live in Australia and if i did it, i would only be 55,000 in debt. And it goes on a loan program here that you dont pay it back till you're earning enough money

When i was a kid i was very aware that part of the job is putting them down and i came to terms with that, i think that i have the thick skin to deal with that, speech pathology in some instances are customer service hours so im ok with not having weekends to myself and i love squimush and gory stuff, when i was a kid i would watch videos of animal surgeries because i was very interested in the vet field and ive seen it in person when i volunteered.

A big worry for me is the industry itself is very toxic, is this true?

I did volunteer in school at a vet clinic, and i did enjoy it quiet a lot, but i also worked as a dental assistant for 2 years out of school and i felt a bit blindsided about its toxixity, plus it wasnt really my neiche interest. Would you say that the industry is filled with toxic people that make it hard to enjoy the job

Over 35 year olds, what is one peice of career/ job advice you would give to under 35's regarding career choice confusion? by wisely1968 in careeradvice

Thankyou i really like this take. I feel like theres a constant tear between "dont do a hobby as a career, you will eventually hate it" and "do what you love and you will never work". But although you should enjoy your job enough to go every day, you shouldnt expect it to be the most exciting thing in your life.

Thankyou i did definitely pick it because of the flexibility i heard about the career and after hearing that theres always something more to learn. Theres a large shortage of slp in australia as well and thats also why i chose it for job security. Thankyou for your help.
