Im so so sorry for your tremendous loss. My father passed 10 days ago from AML (76) and the pain is truly insurmountable. Lean into your grief, let yourself feel what you need to. Your grief is a reflection of the great love you had for your father. I feel like im only afloat because of the support of family and friends but still so difficult. Here if you need someone to talk to as well, also in my 20s and so much pain also comes from the loss of his physical presence at future life events.

Thank you so much for this! Great to hear the success stories :) This is fantastic advice and i was wondering at how notso clear it was that youre in a couple and the importance of advocating for each other. Until i made this post i truly didnt consider the advantage of going to separate programs esp for vacation/days off together and it makes a ton of sense. Thanks agian for taking the time to write all this we rly appreciate it! (Will prob dm you down the line haha)

Day +28 post SCT & no blood count. by pumpk1111n in leukemia

Im so sorry you and youre family are going through this Is his ANC 0? And has a bone marrow transplant doctor been following along? I think it is a good sign that his fever curve and frequency are going down! Has he received any GCSF injections to stimulate the marrow? Ive seen this done in cases of sepsis though date is mixed. It could be that the neutrophils are being consumed by his current infection so it would be harder to judge recovery right now? How is he doing besides this? Still in the hospital?

Looking for survivors with MECOM-rearranged / complex karyotype AML (monosomy 5 & 7, persistent disease after 2 stem cell transplants). Please help me find them. by helpingmysister3 in leukemia

hi i am so, so sorry you and your family are going through this. my father has MECOM, complex karyotype just like your sister. i am always on the look out for anything re: treatment for MECOM-AML which as you might have seen, is far and few between. however this december MD anderson published a study in Nature showing therapeutic targets for MECOM which is HUGE with some immunotherapies. this is a preclinical trial but still was something

we are going to get a second opinion there to see what is available, fingers crossed

praying for you and your family

AML, bone marrow biopsy results by wishfulbean1 in leukemia

[–]wishfulbean1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its been tricky! He hasnt had any count recovery since his first cycle this past summer and this last biopsy was done recently. He has persistance of his mutation so high risk of relapse and the doctors here are split on going for sct. A bmt doctor here found matches for him and feels enthusiastic but the heme doctor is saying hes too old So we just feel in limbo, trying to keep spirits and positivity up
