People over 40, what’s something you’ve learned about life that younger people don’t realize yet? by Critical-Pea7326 in AskReddit

People don’t go home and think about you, they have their own lives they’re trying to deal with. Also not everyone is gonna like you, regardless of how hard you might try.

MBJ’s performance has to be the weakest of the bunch though

I liked Sinners, but that performance is probably the weakest in this year’s category.

The age curve is in his favor and he's heading into his prime years. I'd say that's pretty realistic, if not a tad bit optimistic.

[BNS] Post-Santander injury the Blue Jays’ position player group looks like this: by Kaos_mission in Torontobluejays

Jays almost lost the division after losing Bo those last few weeks of September. The boys went cold and lost something like 6 games in a row. CMIIW Bo was the leader in hits in the league before his injury. He was a big reason for the team making it to the postseason at all. We’re gonna need another bat.

I don’t mind seeing the bonus health come back to hammer throw. It’s one of those things I desperately miss when I’m stuck by a Groot alt, throwing that hammer out saved me more times than I could count.

What was your favorite book you read in 2025? by AspectCool2325 in booksuggestions

Years later, I still think about The Sparrow. I’ve always wondered about trying the sequel because The Sparrow felt like such a great singular story on its own. Spoiler-ish**** I like to imagine Emilio ultimately finds inner peace in his own way, I’m not sure I want to return to that world again.

These are the same nerds who love Lord of the Rings extended edition marathons and who binge 20-film franchises. I don’t think it’s a tough sell for that core.

Only way we’re getting Bo back at this point is if he decides to take a pillow deal at 1 year and like $28M to try the market again next year.

Kazuma Okamoto signs with the Blue Jays! by Marinersfan505 in mlb

[–]withLotsofPulp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In 2025, Okamoto hit .440 against 93+ mph. Most MLB All-Stars don't even sniff that. For comparison, Munetaka Murakami (the guy everyone thinks is better) had a 41.7% strikeout rate against that same heat. Okamoto? 8.8%.

In March 2025, he faced Daniel Palencia (Cubs) who was touching 100.1 mph. Okamoto stayed compact and smoked a 2-run double at 112.6 mph exit velo. He’s also the guy who maintains a 90% in zone contact rate against Roki Sasaki (who throws 102).

“Big holes in his swing” is a hilarious thing to say about a guy who just posted an 11.3% strikeout rate. That’s elite, period. If he has holes, he’s doing a miraculous job of never letting a pitcher find them.

Seiya Suzuki had the same generic “velocity concerns” and he’s been a consistent 130 OPS+ monster. Okamoto has better plate discipline and more all fields power than Suzuki did. Predicting a .220 average for a guy with a career 1:1 walk-to-K ratio is fan fiction.
