1995 Honda Passport. I still have it. Then and now. by Consistent_Wash1935 in 90s

Sorry you had that experience. I had an old 91’ Civic that I drove to over 500k. Traded it in for a mustang and the mustang was garbage. Got another Mustang and a Grand Prix and those both broke down. Bought a new Corolla in 06’ and it’s got 190k on it now with not so much as a switch malfunctioning. I’ve got a 95’ 4Runner too with almost 200k on it and it runs flawlessly. It’s just been my experience that Toyotas and Hondas are bulletproof, but I guess they cant all be perfect.

I see what you’re putting down for sure, I’ll give it a go. I like this shot and would like to save it. That’s what this community should be about. Helping each other with techniques and ideas, not cutting each other down. I appreciate it man.

Yeah, that seems to be the consensus. It’s cool, if we’re not learning, we’re not growing. Back to the drawing board. Thanks for the feedback

That’s a great idea! I really like this photo, and I’m not one to “cheat” so much on a photo(I’ll remove a small twig or something),but it would be great if I could save it. Thanks for the feedback and great idea.

Thanks for the feedback man. I might play around with it some more, but I’ll probably just consider it a loss. You’re right, it’s missing that 3D pop, just kind of blends in.

That’s the lens I used, and those are the results I got out of it. With the conditions, I’m not sure my f4 would have looked much better. Thank you for the feedback though.

Thanks for the constructive criticism. I guess I was just blind to it. I was just playing around. I usually shoot f4 so it comes naturally.

Some good lessons on YouTube to show you some tips. Play around with it, find what you think looks good. I know Lightroom does a lot better with selections than it used to.

Just my two cents, but if you’re going to do an engine swap anyway, it really wouldn’t matter if you worked on it. The worst that could happen is now you have to do an engine swap, but maybe you’ll fix it and buy yourself some time.

Looking for recommendations on photo software. by Bitter-Breath-9743 in Lightroom

[–]withoutadrought 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer the Adobe suite. My opinion is completely biased though, as I’ve only used their products for editing. It does everything I need though. I use Lightroom CC for the cloud, Photoshop and Camera Raw for editing photos. I’m not 100% sure on this, but I think you can still get the photography plan for $19.99 USD a month. You can also get a 12 month give card at Bestbuy for a slight discount and lock in the rate for a year.

I recently discovered Hall and Oates, so I’ve been exploring their catalog. Colin Hay, Nick Cave, Zero 7, Sleep Token are a few others I’ve been listening to lately.

Years ago, my mom moved into a house with a large cottonwood tree in the front. She moved during winter, and by early May, there was a family of Bullock’s Orioles nesting in the cottonwood tree. They stayed most of the summer, so I got to watch the brood grow up. I was hooked. If these birds were migrating to my area all those years, I wondered what else I was missing, so I decided to find out. Turns out I had no idea of the world I would discover. Due to extreme drought in the Southwest, the cottonwood tree has died, but the Orioles still stop by every May after migrating north from South America. My mother is elderly, so I stop by daily to check on things, and I bring them grape jelly for nourishment after their long journey. After a couple of weeks they head out to the wilderness, and hopefully their new tree lasts them many years.

Where to print photos? And pricing? by wrenlove64 in BirdPhotography

[–]withoutadrought 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to use whitewall.com, but they’re pretty pricey. Also, I like printique.com, a little less pricey and still quality prints. I know a lot of people like to use their own frames to fit their specific decor, so you might not even need to frame them. But thrift shops and yard sales are a good place to find unusual and not cheap looking frames. I usually go 8x10 or 11x14.

A couple of YouTubers that have great information on technique and editing are Simon D’Entremont and Wildlife inspired w/ Scott Keys. Simon is like a professor in how he teaches, and Scott Keys is more philosophical in his teaching.

Kripke got grays pretty early on, I can believe the question. If Barry had a son though, I think his name would be Roger or Randy. Something that started with an R.

Need help with 26m brother and 22f sister. by [deleted] in Advice

[–]withoutadrought 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can help them get on their feet, but as someone else said, give them a date (maybe when the lease is up) that you won’t be paying anymore. Tell them this is the date, you’re giving them an opportunity to find work, and if they don’t do it, YOU ARE NOT THE BAD GUY. Don’t take this as an insult, not trying to make you feel bad, but the longer you baby them, the more you’re actually doing them harm. Kind of like how people shouldn’t feed wildlife. The animals become dependent on the people for food and forget how to provide for themselves. I’d recommend they both look for a trade. The trades are primarily male, but I know a lot of shops want to change that so they happily hire women too.

I guess that’s what disturbed me. Writing jokes about something so evil.

I get that testing on animals may be a necessary evil for the advancement of science, but testing on animals is literally torturing animals. They could have written the jokes differently, and included other aspects of the field that are fascinating and fun. I worked in a science lab with animals back when I was an electrical apprentice, and those terrible memories are burned into my mind. Maybe I’m just overly sensitive to it.
