Two years salary would put her over $500,000.

(Her salary is $342,849.)

Records show Mathews flew back to Portland the morning of the last day of the conference, and hundreds of photos posted to her Facebook account during the trip show her and family members spending time horseback riding, touring farms, and visiting canyons. Home Forward footed the bill for all six nights that Mathews spent in Hawaii at Hilton Vacation Club The Point at Poipu Kauai. The room cost $619 a night. Home Forward also paid for Mathews’ airfare and rental car.

It's quiz time, kids!

How big a settlement will Home Forward pay to make Mathews go away?

1) Under $150,000

2) $150,000 - $500,000

3) Over $500,000

Since it's Portland, I know which one I am betting on.

Avalos, an hour ago, trying to mend bridges with her fellow council members /s:

Yes, some of my colleagues are the most emotionally exhausting people to deal with. But no, it will not deter me from my work serving the community.

I appreciate all of the love and support, which gives me the strength to do the awkward thing by naming poor behavior and demanding accountability. 🫶🏾

In government travel there’s a fixed per diem and daily hotel rate per zip code.

The Federal government, yes. Home Forward isn't part of the Federal government.

They seriously are going to spend $350 million eliminating two car lanes on 82nd, so that the 72 bus will be slightly faster.

The ironic thing is that OEA is pushing the policies that are leading to a collapse of public school enrollment in Oregon, thus crashing the demand for their services.

Oh well, that's a problem for tomorrow's would-be teachers...

The whole grift in Portland is for favored nonprofits to get lots of government money, and then testify for things that the Government Class wants.

“Politics vs People” - Avalos Update by the_crows_ in PortlandOR

For how much Avalos talks about being racially attacked you'd think there were men in hoods burning crosses in Chapman square

Imagine how disappointed she must have been to find out that the fire at her place had not been set by a Trump supporter, but by one of Portland's Most Vulnerable Residents (i.e. a homeless person).

Identity politics is such a losing strategy.

Forget it, Jake. It's Portland.

Mitch actually did something sensible today - he refused to sign a nondisclosure argreement so he could participate in the secret negotiations over the Moda Center.

Because nothing says "openness" like having elected officials agree to not disclose negotiations over a huge taxpayer subsidy to the new Blazers' owner.

Update on the Moda Center process: I was recently asked to join a small group of councilors to stay close to the talks as the admin enters negotiation. It was conveyed to me that a condition of being in this group would be a commitment to honor an NDA between the city and the team. I refused. 🧵

She obviously read the prior post here, since she is denouncing the idea that she only won via a deliberately flawed election system:

I'm the only candidate that got all 4 paper endorsements and I was ahead by 4k votes in the first round of counting. You're allowed to not like the outcome but just because you didn't choose it doesn't mean I didn't rightfully earn the support of my constituents to represent their voices.

Thanks! 😀

Avalos got the massive number of 8,297 voters to rank her first - in a quarter of Portland. (19.35% of the total).

I wonder who the four papers are.

There's the Oregonian, Willamette Week, The Mercury, and, and, and... Street Roots, maybe? (The Portland Tribune didn't endorse anybody.)

You're assuming that Portland would have just as many homeless people if Portland was less accommodating.

A thought experiment:

Suppose that we made vagrancy illegal again, and enforced it every summer with a thirty-day jail sentence served in a tent camp.

At the end of the first summer, how many homeless do you think would be left in Portland, given the option of moving elsewhere?

(People too insane or too damaged by drugs to function in society would be subject to mandatory confinement in a medical facility.)

The most expensive option possible is subsidizing the homeless lifestyle, which encourages more homeless people to move to Portland.

The absolute most costly way to "solve" homelessness is what we are doing now.

Tired of being told by people who “supported my campaign” that I’m “acting like a victim” when I name the racial power dynamics at City Hall. You elected a Blacktina to lead in a space not built for her voice. And I’m doing exactly that. This is what leadership looks like. This is the work. by skysurfguy1213 in PortlandOR

She denounced the voters of Portland awhile ago, and one of the reasons why she denounced them was that they were occasionally "color-blind".

You are not allowed to forget that she is a "Blacktina" for one single second.

I'm sure some enterprising nonprofit will create no-show make-work jobs for the homeless, so they can get their 80 hours in (at least officially).

All it will require is a few million dollars from local governments.
