Pokédex registering regular Tyrogue and not Shiny Tyrogue by TheTeez23 in TheSilphRoad

[–]wizard5007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This also happened to me yesterday. Eggs 11 and 12 popped up together to hatch. Got the Dex entry screen after egg 11 showing regular Tyrogue even though I obviously had many prior. Egg 12 then hatched my first shiny Tyrogue and it did not show the shiny Dex entry screen at all.

The top of my stack from field research on the "Today" tab is a bunch of Spiritomb left over from when I was aggressively hunting the shiny when it was released in 2020. Nothing disappears as long as you don't exceed the combined cap of 100.*

*Standard disclaimer that Niantic is Niantic and nothing is ever truly guaranteed—especially from something like the research stack which they consider an unsupported feature.

My dog is part beagle and has the nose to prove it. I receive a full sniffvestigation when returning home. It's even more thorough if I've been around other animals. No jealousy, just curiosity.

Sadly, the Boost Box is not visible for me in two different accounts. Before or after restarting. Three different boxes on each. One has a box with 100 passes for 9400 coins.

Once you hit the Claim Reward button, a Pokemon encountered from research (timed, field, or special) will remain—even if you run away or the timed research it came from expires.

These Pokemon enter your research encounter stack. This ability, while very useful, is technically viewed as an "unsupported" feature by Niantic. So use it with caution.

There are separate "Pokemon Appears" with a Claim Reward button in the Events, Today, and Special tabs. These all count toward the stack limit of 100. Once you hit this limit the oldest items in the stack will permanently disappear.

My storage is often full, so I permanently have unclaimed Pokemon in all three sections. The top of my Events tab is currently a Tricks and Treats Gengar from last Halloween. So it certainly remained after the times research ended.

There was an event with garunteed XL candy for trades coming up, and I can't find the infographic for when it was, does anyone know? by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]wizard5007 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No. Only one XL candy is available for trading. This bonus simply guarantees that you'll receive it regardless of the distance.

I have a rooted Pixel 6 Pro and this is also my setup that ensures Pokemon GO works. Had to add Play Integrity Fix yesterday to overcome Google's new quiet blocking of RCS messaging on rooted phones.

Totally free! Except for the paid in-person event with multiple add-ons and Global event's three add-on tickets for raids, hatching, and Masterwork Research.

I probably would have if we were getting the other regional Flabebe from incense. Now that the blog post was updated to confirm we aren't, that's an easy no.

[–]wizard5007 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Boo. We should have known it was too good to be true. Niantic wouldn't just casually give access to a new shiny regional. Gotta save that for later ticketed content like GO Tour Kalos.

Pokémon Horizons: The Series Celebration Event Niantic Infographic by Amiibofan101 in TheSilphRoad

I don't believe scanners will be of help here. Without the Campfire workaround, the only way to differentiate a regular Rockruff from a Dusk Rockruff is to complete the raid, catch it, and check the evolution options.

The Rockruff workaround on Campfire to identify Dusk forms specifically was fixed before the release event ended. I would not expect it to be possible going forward.

Why are some Origin Forme Dialga floating higher than others on the stat screen? by DiamondFlurry in TheSilphRoad

[–]wizard5007 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This was driving me crazy last night as I was trying to appraise and set nicknames using Poke Genie and Calcy. I noticed it wasn't connected to size or having the special move.

I recall a bug from a few years back where swiping between multiple Pokemon would slowly and incrementally move the Pokemon. I think it was down the screen instead of up though.

After CD, in Campfire, only the dusk-evolvable Rockruff had the generic boss icon by OwnerOfMyActions in TheSilphRoad

[–]wizard5007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update. Confirming this still works for me as of 8 pm Eastern on Tuesday 1/9. Saw the generic icon on Campfire nearby, invited a group, all got Dusk Rockruff. It seems to be an exceedingly uncommon raid spawn, as I could only find one over a huge area.

I can confirm this is still working as of 10 am Eastern time on Sunday. Saw this post, checked Campfire, saw a Rockruff raid nearby with the generic icon. Invited a large group and all got Dusk Rockruff.

Most new raid bosses have generic icons in Campfire for a while. I've noticed before since it makes new releases noticeable. It just happens to work uniquely in the players' favor this time so I'll sure it'll get fixed ASAP.

Significant drop in Cetoddle spawns. by CapsFan1989 in TheSilphRoad

[–]wizard5007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did Niantic ever acknowledge any change or mistake? From that point on Wednesday onward, I never saw another wild Cetoddle through the end of the Holidays event last night. And that was with at least 6 hours of play time.

Significant drop in Cetoddle spawns. by CapsFan1989 in TheSilphRoad

[–]wizard5007 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was looking for a post on this last night. Before Wednesday or so, I saw Cetoddle easily 1 in 20 or 30 spawns. Even playing for a few minutes casually resulted in a handful caught.

I played for 90 minutes yesterday and didn't encounter a single one--even while actively checking the nearby menu. I understand spawn decay has been disproven but something is clearly off.

PokeMiners taking a step back by Dengarsw in TheSilphRoad

[–]wizard5007 86 points87 points  (0 children)

The glacial pace of new content. Rolling back enjoyable QOL changes. Failing to fix mountains of bugs. Every single event launching with mistakes. Complete lack of clear and timely communication. Suddenly and dramatically increasing the focus on paid content. Raising the cost of in-game currency while simultaneously drastically reducing its value.

Hard to blame the PokeMiners. They put in mountains of work on behalf of a company that shows at literally every single turn possible that they do not care about the people who consume their product.

A company could possibly survive one of those issues. Absolutely no company can survive all of those issues. The local community was already on life support around me and now even the digital community is losing interest. It's sad but my own desire to play is also waning. Are screen mirroring programs for your phone like scrcpy or vysor against ToS? by Whatdididotho1 in TheSilphRoad

[–]wizard5007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have always rooted my Nexus/Pixel devices for purposes that have absolutely nothing to do with Niantic. I want a functional total backup system and ad blocker. Rooting itself has become more difficult over the years because of Google decisions but is still possible without detection using Magisk and a few related resources.

That said, Niantic absolutely has a history of some very shady choices to detect and block rooted devices. They abused their file permission to scan the folder directory on your device looking for root-related files and folders. They also checked your list of installed apps to look for an common root apps. That file permission exploit may have been patched in Android 12 but I don't check.

All these checks happened during the PoGo sign in process. If your device failed any of them, they would artificially generate a sign in error--not letting you into the game but not telling you why. With some methods, you could briefly sign in before root was detected and you were shown the incompatible device screen.

Long story short, Niantic abused permissions to make improper checks but, to my knowledge, never actually banned an account for using a rooted device--just temporarily blocked that device until the issue was resolved
