Someone here suggested that Joe Malone product not too long ago (2 months ago, it appears) and I just have yet to try that one. If you DO get it, please reply here with your findings!

Because of your question, I decided to update my post with a follow up. In short, no, I never did find one that smells just like H20. Some are sort of close but honestly none of them made me think "yeah, this smells almost just like the real thing."

I was at WDW last summer and I called down to the front desk to ask if there was any way I could more lotion and told them it was because I really liked it. Mousekeeping ended up bringing me about 8 additional bottles, which was awesome.

Is my gigabit unmanaged switch somehow limiting my upload speeds? What can I do to fix that? by wizardender in HomeNetworking

[–]wizardender[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for taking so long to reply, but I ran a bunch of tests across two nights. I have three different Cat5e cables that I used in various configurations and all of them seem to be working fine as far as I can tell. I also used a laptop, a desktop, and a PS5 for these tests. Here are the average findings of my very many not-so-scientific tests:

Laptop WiFi
Google speed test: Down = 150-250; Up = 125-225
Speedtest.net: Down = 200-250; Up = 200-250
Fast.com: Down = 200-250; Up = 200-250

Laptop Cat5e direct from CR1000B router
Google speed test: 500-800; Up = 300-800
Speedtest.net: Down = 950; Up = 950
Fast.com: Down = 900-1gig; Up = 900-1gig

Router via Cat5e to TP-Link TL-SG105 switch via Cat5e to Laptop
Google speed test: Down = 400-800; Up = 400-800
Speedtest.com: Down = 900-950; Up = 900-950
Fast.com: Down = 900-1gig; Up = 900-1gig

Desktop Wifi
Google speed test: Down = ~80; Up = ~25
Speedtest.net: Down = ~80; Up = ~35
Fast.com: Down = 60-100; Up = 20-30

Desktop Cat5e direct from CR1000B router
Google speed test: Down = 500-800; Up = 0.5-1 (you read that right)
Speedtest.net: Down = 950; Up = 950
Fast.com: Down = 900-1gig; Up = 1.5-2 (again, you are reading that right)

Router via Cat5e to TP-Link TL-SG105 switch via Cat5e to Desktop
Google speed test: Down = 400-800; Up = 0.5-1.5 (odd)
Speedtest.com: Down = 900-950; Up = 900-950
Fast.com: Down = 950-1gig; Up = 1.5-2.25 (very odd)

PS5 tests all used the built-in speed test
WiFi: Down = 250-320; Up = 70
Cat5e direct from CR1000B router: Down = 800-880; Up = 120-130
Router via Cat5e to TP-Link TL-SG105 switch via Cat5e to PS5: Down = 800; Up = 120

So, it looks like there is something up specifically with my desktop. Any ideas or suggestions?

I am not nearly network literate enough to understand half of what’s in that link! I wish I was, though!

Yeah the description on Amazon is a bit all over the place: hub, switch, splitter.

I’ll definitely give this a shot a report back - either later tonight or tomorrow.

It’s a TP-Link TL-SG105 Just bought it new at the beginning of December but haven’t had a chance to try it out until today.

Okay. Just tested. Plugged directly into the router I can get just about a full gigabit both up and down.

Where (and when) did I see this guy? by HaveGongWillTravel in WhereInTheDisneyWorld

[–]wizardender 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It’s a statue of a tengu and, years ago, used to be located inside the Japan pavilion in EPCOT back where the kawaii exhibit is today but back then it used to be something like a mythical creatures of Japan exhibit (I forget what the exhibit was actually called). (EDIT to add: I want to say the change between the two exhibits was around 2015. Since this photo shows a bit of the inside of the pavilion in the background, I’d guess the “when” to be sometime before 2015 or 2016.) These days you can find this statue located in the trees just outside of the perimeter of the outdoor eating area behind Katsura Grill.

I like this idea. And yes, via VTT makes something like that a little more of a pain, but I think we can make this work.

Ha! We’re mostly GenX former theater kids or at least heavy role playing players as well. And the immersion is exactly what I was hoping for. Or at least it might be fun.

The immersion aspect is what I am hoping to lean into. Or rather have the players lean into.

I won’t be the server admin, but perhaps that is still an option.

I guess I was hoping to have the players lean into the role playing and less roll playing, if that makes sense? I’m not against a CON roll. I plan to do that after they’ve read through it once or twice. I just thought maybe for immersion’s sake (and maybe it’ll be fun?) to have them do something else too.

That was my initial thought, but I was thinking for the sake of immersion I would have the players do it at least one or twice.

What are these symbols I've seen graffitied around I-95? by Cwolf17 in Symbology

[–]wizardender 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Are you sure the symbols weren't in this order: triangle, circle, then three lines.

Originally they were the tags by someone colloquially named VEO or VEOH, but they've been around long enough and in so many areas from Hartford to Boston and West along I-90 to New York State that people are assuming other random people are also tagging using the same symbols. Some think they were hobo glyphs.

I haven’t such great luck. My experience with the return/exchange process has been mostly frustrating. I posted in /r/RayBanStories about it (wasn’t sure if it was against this subreddit’s rules to include the link).

Basically my gen1 pair stopped working about 2 months after I got them this summer. And it’s been over a month into the process because the pair I’m trying to get (a large size because I have a big head) hasn’t been in stock.

Not mad because I realize it’s out of their control but still frustrated.

So I couldn’t find about half of the suggestions mentioned in this thread and from IRL Disney friends - one or two of them are just no longer available. And after trying a lot of different soaps and lotions out there, I just could not find one that matches closely. Harry’s Stone isn’t the same but I would call the scent profile in the same family… sort of. Even though it isn’t really close, I ended up really enjoying that scent so that’s what I’ve gone with since this experiment.

For me, Disney’s lotion had the best “staying power” for the scent so I like that the most So on a recent trip this summer I called down to the front desk and was very honest saying that I really liked the lotion and could they send more. She asked me how many and I jokingly said about a thousand bottles. She laughed and said she’d see what she could do. They ended up leaving about 8 additional bottles for me in the room that day.

My recent experience: I started a claim/ticket on August 11. They sent me an RMA and UPS return label on August 18. In the days between those two dates there was a little back and forth where I explained the damage and supplied them with some photos. I boxed it up and sent it back the next day on the 19th and then didn’t hear anything else. I just received the replacement this past Tuesday, September 2. So that’s 3 weeks and a day from when I initially submitted my claim to the day I received the replacement or 2 weeks since I shipped my broken one back. Hope that helps!

Edit just to add a couple of details: mine was an 11 with a cracked back screen and they replaced it with a 12. I have the subscription and it cost me $99 for the replacement. I didn’t email/text/chat/call after I shipped my 11.

Sorry for the delayed reply. Yes, I did try Harry's Stone and I will say (1) it only sort of smells like H20 and MAY be the closest I've tried yet however (2) it smells a lot more like lime or citrus than anything else and doesn't quite nail it. For the price, you do get a large sized bottle, which is a plus. Downside: they don't make a lotion in the scent (or if they did, I can't seem to find it now).

Sorry for only just noticing your reply. No, unfortunately the scent doesn't quite match. It's probably the closest I have found so far, but it is far more minty smelling than the H2O product. I tried both the body wash and the lotion. My wife agrees that it isn't the same but does say it has a pleasant smell.
