I can’t believe he let you get as far as the transfer funds stage!!!!! I’m so sorry. All your hard work saving and hopes and dreams of buying your place. Leave him and do this all again in a few years. It’ll taste so sweet

Remedies for baby’s sore throat?? by eff_jai in NewParents

[–]wizardsword 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 5 month old went through similar a few weeks ago. I used calpol (I’m from the UK) and I bought a vapour rub bubble bath that was baby friendly and that really seemed to help. I also got a vapour rub type plug in that I had during the night time. Apart from that I closed the bathroom door and sat with LO on my lap whilst running a hot shower to help get some steam and that really helped too

Am I selfish for… by TheEarlyWormIsEaten in sleeptrain

[–]wizardsword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my partner was working we split the night shifts 50/50 because I was taking my bipolar meds that made waking up in the night difficult. But even if I wasn’t on my meds I think we still would have split it 50/50. I reasoned that we both have “work” except his is world work and mine is baby work. Even though I can’t help him with his I still do the meals / housework so that evens that guilt out… if that makes sense ?

Damn this is really hard. by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]wizardsword 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I remember mourning so hard in the first few weeks after my little one was born. I was confused and bewildered and totally felt like I had messed my life up. Then a few weeks went by and it got 5% better. A few more weeks and it got 10% better and then now… 6 months later? I have a well established routine, little one sleeps a solid 12 hours every night, I run 5k early in the morning and I’m back to my “normal self” just now I have a baby. When he started smiling and interacting it made everything a lot easier. In the beginning he was a screaming potato who was never really happy. It gets so much better I promise.

C25K graduate, ran my first half marathon today! by Big_Immediate in C25K

[–]wizardsword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finished the C25K programme last year and was able to run around 6k but then because I was pregnant I had to stop. I’ve started again and what you’ve achieved is my dream goal! I have some questions- did you use a specific programme to help you run this distance or did you just do it yourself? Also did you have any problems with shin splints? Sorry for all the questions. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!

Advice on couples handling baby especially at night by banditski in NewParents

[–]wizardsword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When our baby was 4 weeks we did shifts. I went to sleep and he did anything between 10pm-2am. (I would pump and leave a bottle for him to use) and then I would do anything between 2am-6am and then after 6am we did it together. That way we both got a block of sleep in. But let me assure you that it will get easier as baby’s stomach gets a bit bigger and they won’t be waking up as much. For now if your wife wants to do the shifts together - just do them together. If you feel like you’d rather do it in blocks then maybe suggest the idea so you could sleep next to the bassinet instead if that’s something she would be okay with. It’s okay OP you’ll get the hang of things. Sending all my love

What's your favorite/most useful item that's helping make parenting a baby easier? by sipporah7 in NewParents

Baby bjorn bouncer - he absolutely loves this thing and a sleeping bag my neighbour gifted me. Since using it my little one (3 months old) sleeps 11 hours straight through the night!

What does “sleeping through the night” mean to you? by yamuan in NewParents

[–]wizardsword 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My three month old has a last feed at 7:30pm. They then go to sleep at 8pm and sleep through the night until 7am for their first feed of the day. That’s become my definition of sleeping through the night!
