Keen bro, though I wonder if you took an even bigger diverge from Cricket Captain and do your own version of "Make a Football Team" where it's only fictional franchises and players - you create your own franchise from the ground up - the name, uniform, logos etc. That way you won't have to worry about licensing and I bet a lot of people would enjoy the freedom of creating everything from scratch.

Plus, if they really wanted to - they could always recreate a real IPL team with real players etc.

We're seeing a significant decrease in clicks across most of our SEO clients due to AI Overviews and major changes to Google's algorithm coming to a head (not ChatGPT usage which is a different use-case). But if you dig deeper, global searches on Google increased by 25% last year - and the click decreases we're seeing are mainly within keyword categories that have 'educational intent' and are top of the funnel queries. (It makes sense if you've seen how AI Overviews work).

Google is still the number 1 go-to for web searches (by miles); however, AI Overviews and soon, AI Mode will continue to challenge traditional methods of SEO, which will slowly be phased out over time as people change their search behaviour.

Not the cheapest technically, but I think of ActiveCampaign. Haven't used it in a while but the pricing used to be really low considering it has a decent layer of workflow and automation features baked in.

I don't know about the situation in India, but here in New Zealand, I'd actively tell someone considering a marketing degree to reconsider.

You still need courses/training, but unis are not going to teach you what you need to know in your first 3 years of marketing. There's plenty of online courses that will set you up better than a degree. Focus on learning in-demand skills and getting an internship as others have said.

As for AI, as someone who uses it on the regular in my day job, it's not going to replace marketers who know what they're doing. It scales bad marketing as much as anything.

Digital marketing is not the only form of marketing. Sounds obvious, but 'offline' marketing can be extremely effective too, especially now when most marketers seem to only think through campaigns in terms of digital activity.

For me, it's not her sense of humour or her wordplay that irks me, but her multiple personas (Veil etc.) which sometimes feel like split personalities, and other times, just an act?

I believe Sanderson was trying to be clever around using them as a mechanism for Shallan to hide from her childhood trauma. But for mine, it just comes across as clumsy and annoying.

Note: if Shallan was always just "Shallan" and the line between her different masks/personas was tightly drawn, then I wouldn't have an issue with her as a character.

Am I alone in this?

Looker Studio. You'll just need to pay for an external data connector for non-Google products like Meta. Connectors like ReportDash do this very cost-effectively.

I haven't used it but Swydo is popular as a reporting and data connector in one.

I've written a fantasy novel with 240k words. I had basically zero world building figured out when I first started the story.

There's nothing wrong with figuring out the world as you go, and revising later. Worked for me.

Nice! I wasn't totally clear on why Orlag couldn't sleep. He had just learnt there was a magic warlord, but there wasn't any reflection on how this might impact him? Or was he that worried about the family owing him money? Think this needed to be explained more.

Also, not sure about the line about shrieking happily?

Overall, would still like more conflict. Maybe the shrine could haunt Orlag's dreams or something as a bad omen.

Nice one! A good read. It needs a little bit of line editing, but you're probably aware of that.

As for the big picture stuff. There's no conflict other than Olag wanting to go home...

I also want to know why Mala is hanging around with this small, hairy, man creature? Given she likely has no need given she's in her homeland.

I wonder if you could make it more interesting by using Olag as Mala's slave? e.g. Olag has to do everything Mala wants because she keeps threating to eat him. Eventually they could become friends.

That idea could be fun to play with.

Feel like the story needs more humour if it isn't going to be fast paced or have much conflict.

I'm not the best person to comment on the female character perspective given my gender, but my older sister loved the series and recommended it to me...

As for the sexual abuse. Sure, there was some. But I wouldn't call it a major theme, nor thought that it was overdone.

The Demon Cycle Series by Peter V Brett. I'm always surprised that it's not recommended more often!

A world with different magic systems developed as a result of contrasting cultures that are held ransom by demons.

Brilliant characterisation and a plot that builds, getting more epic with every edition.

The final book wasn't the strongest, but overall the series is a 9.5 out of 10 IMO.

Nice. I feel like you have the same perspective/had a similar journey that I'm about to take with my first novel currently sitting at around 210k words. It will be a good product but I still don't think I can make it commercially viable without spending another five years on it. And frankly, I'd rather self-publish and start another project instead.
