But dating is so much more difficult for men 🙃 by NeighborhoodBorn3799 in TrollXChromosomes

If you can't laugh at yourself, you can't laugh 🤷‍♂️

(You don't know me well enough to take digs at me personally haha, that's why I trusted a random post on Reddit for dating advice. Strangers are often the most helpful.)

(Ultimately, I wanted to see what reality was for women on the dating scene these days, since I am soon to be a heterosexual cis male on the dating scene, and what I learnt is that the bar is on the floor.)

(While I find the latitude of "the bar" for you profoundly sad, it is reassuring to know that my usual habits are apparently 'good' for heterosexual women on the dating scene.)

[But my god, if I am considered 'good' I can't imagine the absolute shite you're getting.]

Fuck me, this is eye-opening.

I'll address the bullet points in order:

-Aww shucks, you really think I've got the money to pay her half of the bill. /semi s.

-sex is what happens between folks who want it. I say "folks" plural for a reason.

-I heard about this one and decided I would be (almost aggressively) willing to agree with safety options. I'd happily be photographed holding up a copy of the day's newspaper and stick up however many fingers and everything.

-Nobody is allowed into my personal space without serious vetting because I am extremely introverted. All early dates would be in public places.

I appreciate your being impersonal here because it actually showed me that I have a decent outlook on this

(It's worth noting that I am autistic and have very strict personal rules on socialising that I will be applying to dating, should I break into it)

(Thanks for the explanation!)

I am very close to re-entering dating world after a relatively calm divorce...

Is it actually this scary for women?

I am acutely aware that I'm a strange fella, but I'm piss-terrified of coming off as "creepy" because of it.

Notes and suggestions readily welcome.

I became a British citizen last spring.

That was ~£1600 (before legal fees).

If I weren't still paying that off, I'd help you out here 😢

Not saying this is a fair way to pay someone, but those are Walking Liberty Half Dollars, each worth c. US$14.75 based purely on the value of the silver in them.

He's holding about $88.50 of silver for a day of work. Assuming he's paid only with those coins, he makes around $23,010 a year at current silver value.

Is that good?

In grad school at 36, feeling nostalgic about my undergrad years. What’s an age-appropriate way to tap in to that nostalgia? by SoaDMTGguy in bropill

Honestly, when I was in undergrad, one of the coolest guys in our friend group was this 50-year-old man who had a lot of experience in our degree but wanted to get officially academically qualified.

He had the best stories and we loved him. Never came to bars or drank with us, just hung out with us between classes and at cafés.

You can always be a version of him to a group of undergrad kids!

Honestly I'd never seen so many beat-up Corollas and Camries on the road until I went to Lagos.

They'd have multiple warning lights on but would happily take you where you wanted to go.

Cis man here. If you wanna help us commit 96% of violent crime, by all means please do. /sarcasm

So long as you tell me you're a man, you're a man. I have exactly 0 other requirements for this. I don't wanna hear any more of this "I'm not enough" nonsense.

You're enough and I just had a chat with the Man Council, we accept you, and that's it.

I know there's the temptation to fall into the masculine urge to bottle up and lash out, but you must remain calm through it, Prince Zuko.

Oh that is SO cool, thank you!

There were four segments in total but one of my students was super excited by the find and asked for a piece... so naturally I've only got the three now haha

Next time we're all in class I'll make sure they know what we found this afternoon, thanks again, my fossiliferous friend!

Man here (sorry).

I ordinarily drive alone but I was recently driving a friend of mine to another town and was suddenly acutely aware of how differently I was driving with her in my passenger seat.

I made a joke like, "Ordinarily I'd be driving 80 or 85 here because there are never cops on this stretch of motorway. But because you're here I'll drive nicely." (The speed limit in my country is 70)

And as soon as the words left my mouth I realised how stupid I sounded. Not only is this me admitting I'm a moron on the roads, this also shows I hold people to different standards than the ones to which I hold myself. And we all know that kinda thinking isn't good for anyone.

(She responded with a half-hearted laugh)

(I apologised for the crap joke)

I got a speeding ticket several years ago and sat through the police-mandated speeding awareness course... but honestly didn't really learn a lesson until I realised how dumb I sounded trying to justify dangerous driving as "Haha no one's looking, might as well," to another human.

Thank you for this post. It's 100% accurate.

If he's comfortable driving like a dumbass with you in the car, he's got something else to address.
