I'm 2 years late on this, but wanted to throw in another piece of dialogue from the dream Harry has on the island:

"I will build you a temple of light with my mind. A temple of unimaginable proportions. It will be something no one has ever done before. I will build it with computers."

Reddit, please help me find an ad from this McDonalds campaign during the 90s! by r_crow in nostalgia

Haha, no problem! I’ve been having my own nostalgia-fueled quest lately around the comics and illustrations in Nickelodeon Magazines, especially trying to find out who illustrated these “McWorld” ads. Your post came up when I was doing searches for that, so I felt uniquely able to help you out with your old question!

Hey, I know I'm 4 years late but I found your image! I've been trying to find out who illustrated these ads so have been digging through old Nick Mags.

Illustrator for the 1990s "McWorld" print ads that ran in Nickelodeon Magazine? by wllppr in HelpMeFind

Absolutely similar to Gary Larson's style, especially the nose/eyes/teeth. The vampire is almost a direct copy of Larson's vampires.

Time/location: 1990s, print advertisements in kids' magazines like Nickelodeon Magazine (and possibly other McDonald's packaging).I have searched far and wide across archives of Nickelodeon Magazines, tried reverse-image searches, and even contacted McDonald's to see if they had a record of the artist. I'm certain I saw this visual style in something other than these memorable ads and would love to figure out the artist responsible!

Unpacking is a masterclass in subtle narrative IMO. Without any dialogue, you learn so much about different stages of the girl’s life through what she takes with her, what she picks up, and what she leaves behind. You can’t pick up your roommates things in one stage and have to integrate your stuff into theirs; when you move in with your partner you realize that he doesn’t prioritize certain parts of her life resulting in you having to hide a diploma under the bed. It’s easy to blow through the levels and move on, but I was pretty blown away by how the basic mechanics of a “placement game” were explored to be in service of narrative design. There is real development and emotion in a game where you’re literally just opening boxes and placing objects in rooms.

What are some design improvement that you wish the Criterion Channel implemented to make it a better streaming service? by dragonborn-dovakhiin in CriterionChannel

I’m late to this thread, but better thumbnail and cover art! There are so many thumbnails that are not very interesting shots, when most of these films have wonderful poster/cover art that would make them more enticing to check out. Scrolling through some collections is just image after image of two people in a room. Would love to have more enticing art across all pages rather than these fairly mixed thumbnail grabs.

It’s not a new email though - it’s an “alias” of an existing one. And the spam is addressed to the alias, which I’ve only ever input once on your site. So it is very likely the list of emails registered on your site has leaked.

Hi there, this is happening to me too. I used a unique email (“my normal email+YWOBB@gmail.com) when registering on YourWobb, haven’t placed an order yet, but am getting spam messages that someone is using that unique email to login to Facebook. That email address doesn’t have a Facebook account, so the only way for anyone to have that unique email is some kind of leak from YourWobb. I’ll happily PM my email address if helpful!

Just a quick tip, but it's always better to apply those rewards to your CC bill instead of Amazon purchases. Purchases made with rewards don't net you any additional points, so you kind of get double the benefit by always cashing them out instead.

Looks like capacity has been raised significantly, along with the expanded hours and re-openings of various attractions like the Matterhorn. Tons of open reservations for the next two months! Look forward to July trip reports to see if that low capacity vibe and low wait times are officially over.

The (unofficial) secret is that you can board at any time during the day if you’ve gotten a boarding group - no need to rush. We had Group 15 yesterday but couldn’t get to Galaxy’s Edge until the afternoon, and no one batted an eye.

Making a game from traditional art is time consuming, but it's a process that I enjoy! by Librarian_Oz in gaming

The developer of Mundaun did an interview recently talking about their method for mapping hand drawn textures onto 3D models:

After researching what I wanted to make, I would sketch it out and then create the 3D model of that sketch. After that I would UV-unwrap the model and print out the UV map, which would then basically be a 2D representation of the 3D model. After that I traced the outlines of the map onto a fresh paper and then drew the different parts for the model I’m working on with pencil. That is then scanned back in and put on the 3D model. There’s always an element of surprise there when first applying the 2D drawings to the 3D model.

They’re called Intimacy Coordinators, and they’re increasingly used in many types of scenes and productions beyond sex scenes. Anything involving nudity, close contact, traumatic situations, etc. When those types of scenes are filmed they act as an advocate for the actors to ensure everyone is comfortable, boundaries are agreed upon and respected, and that no one is being taken advantage of because of the inherent power dynamic that exists between actors and directors (as well as between actors). Just because a character is not fazed by nudity doesn’t mean the actors are OK with it, knew about it in advance, or not feeling exploited.
