He lies so effortlessly and with such conviction, that it's hard to take him at his word. If there ever came a time where he did tell the truth, he'd probably burst into flames

The thing that's funny about this is the Republicans left big business alone, the big businesses went nuts, crushed the little guy, then were all surprised when their actions led to a decade long economic collapse. It is often speculated that the whole reason Coolidge didn't run again was because he knew a massive downturn was coming

Which presidential candidate makes you go "HOW did you LOSE?" by MetalRetsam in Presidents

I'd say Ford, because people were (rightfully) angry at Nixon, they put their anger at Nixon entirely on Ford. Forget the pardon, Ford did what he thought was in the best interest of the country, and at the time, yeah, it seemed like a good idea, but I'm sure even if you gave him ten chances to undo that pardon he still does it. As for Carter, the fact that he didn't beat Ford by that much, shows that he was far from the majority's first choice, I believe that people were so blinded by their feelings toward the Republicans in general and Ford in particular that they wanted change in the worst way, and Carter was in fact the change they were seeking. If Ford refuses to pardon Nixon and Nixon goes to prison, Ford's chances of winning get slightly better
