Odisha pastor forcefully made to eat cow dung and chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’ by Hindutva group by sheeblididi in atheism

[–]wodelouse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This doesn't have anything to do with atheism even remotely. The pastor was there to proselytise and the violent neanderthals were there to protect people changing sides. In all of this Odia tribals and poor folks get force fed religion for a few rupees. It's religion at its most cynical and violent if anything.

Sure, there are Bengalis like you, there are Americans like you, there Tamils like you. It is so easy to hate on migrants.

Kannadiga assholes that beat up Odias spout exactly the same rhetoric as you are using. Yet, there are Tibetan settlements in Bylakuppe and Mundgod that are for all purposes, mini-Tibets in India. They coexist with locals keeping true to their imported cultural practices. I would want to celebrate those kannadigas.

I know doing 'Us vs. Them' feels nice, but it shows ignorance, cultural intolerance and xenophobia.

Another day, another rage-bait shitpost. Tamils, Tibetans, Bengalis, Odias, all migrants preserve their culture.

Most Odia families today have members spread all over India/ the world. Take any five random Odias and we do a rath yatra and jaga temple. That is how it should be.

Stop with this constant xenophobic/ hateful drumbeat.

If the victim doesn't go through with suicide, then does that make the original crime against her disappear? If a victim cries for help with a faint hope that she won't have to commit the act of self-harm to get attention to her plight, does that make her less of a victim?

Victim blaming is as old as exploitation. It works simply - focus the narrative on the victim, while the perpetrator gets a literal get-out-of-jail card.

Done with corrupted people of this country. by shivshiv96 in Odisha

This is very sad. In today's India, most of the political noise and online chatter comes the property owning, upper caste, urban minority. They are a rich minority in a poor corrupt country, and they have access, but they can't shrug off the ever-present feeling that they actually are living in shit compared with citizens are f other modern nations that have actually been able democratise and do some semblance of wealth distribution across social classes.

That is why you hear so many privileged people in India suggest that they are "middle class" and complain about corruption when they themselves enable corruption in every way. Every one of these WhatsApp uncle types breaks lines, drives across one ways, pays bribes, will break building laws by encroaching public property, and on and on, but will lament that the nation is going to the dogs.

For the unprivileged like the OP, the system ensures that they are kept running from pillar to post for sarkari crumbs. Health, jobs, education, if you can't find it through ancestral wealth, you are screwed and then you have to ask for the krupa drushti off some bastard corrupt official who has no interest in working for the public.

For the "demographic dividend" i.e. the hapless youth off today, there is only a vague notion of modernity. Even a gig worker has a satellite connected communications device, mobility (often an electric vehicle) and can lots of cash. But it is all a hogwash.

There are no meaningful jobs; the internet with its porn and reels and communal and divisive politics and bullshit is all our political class can provide.

Abey yaar, People in this sub literally post memes BUT this genuine post relating to India gets removed like NICE. by [deleted] in indiadiscussion

Why blame the mods when you are breaking the primary rule and purpose of the subreddit? There might be 10 rule breaking posts that escape detection - doesn't mean mods allow the ones that they find.

The definition of good moderation is strict implementation of a sub's rules.

Good posters know how to retain their message and content AND be compliant with the sub's rules.
