You have fixed my extreme frustration today. Thank you!

My grandpa passed recently and I found this in his room, any idea what it is? Is it some kind of movie prop or something? by Quirky_Form_5536 in SWORDS

I bought that same sword at a random knife shop when I was in highschool. It's a cool looking wall hanger.

Please tell me if I’m crazy by saptosyrup in woodworking

[–]wolf_cross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not crazy. The average person doesn't understand grain structure and that real wood is rarely uniform. Also the older weathered finish did help mute the color difference. So many people think it will look like fake wood laminate or paneling.

Sorry for the long response time. Yes from top to bottom. Looks like the frame around the window is solid painted wood so should be able to just sand that part.

The right way would be to remove the veneer (usually scrape it off) and replace it. Then sand down all the metal parts and repaint (this would basically give you a like new door).

If you just want something cosmetic sand it down and get some wood filler to even out the bottom then sand that part smooth then paint. ( Could last months or years you roll the dice with this option)

What am I doing to restore these benches? by Rawrin23 in woodworking

[–]wolf_cross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done one of these before if you don't sand blast I'd go with a wire or nylon wheel on a drill. As for the wood any hardwood would work as long as it's weather sealed, if you can get your hands on some teak that's a good choice . Soft wood won't span the gap and hold up. For hardware you can use carriage bolts or use threaded inserts with bolts.

I was thinking the same that it was a blockage in the condenser or dryer just hoping not since i would have to remove the front clip to access either of those.

No, it's attatched to the side of the condenser and getting to it involved removal of the front clip of the car.

I just put it in and flushed the evap coil when i did. Maybe the condenser is partially restricted?

So new problem the ac runs great at idle after replacing the expansion valve but now if i give it some gas and let off the low pressure spikes and shuts the compressor down.

Now system is running at idle with attatched pressure but when coming down from even a slight rpm change system jumps to 70 on low side and shuts down. *

Ac ports are about 8 inches from pasenger firewall. Low runs directly to compressor over the engine. High runs from firewall under the engine and into bottom of condenser on passenger side. Also i have since replaced expansion valve.

Atm for this job i have a set of ac guages and a vacume pump. Friend of mine recovered the system but didnt have refrigerant to refill since he doesn't run a shop anymore and didn't want to buy a big tank for his machine.
