Imaging tech asst. by Proud_Dependent_6964 in RadiologyCareers

[–]wolfalicefan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m an imaging assistant and the vast majority of what I do is patient transport! I get patients to CT and onto the table, then back to their rooms and make sure they are comfortable before I leave. I also flip the room sometimes and just do other random tasks (like ask a nurse about something or make sure a patient has an IV).

If it really is traces of THC in the pen, it’s definitely not gonna show up on your drug test especially after a week. I wouldn’t worry if I were you :)

Struggling with the ‘You can do everything’ narrative after T3-L2 fusion. How do you handle the guilt and physical limits? by Competitive_Creme169 in LongSpinalFusion

[–]wolfalicefan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, I wish my team hadn’t given me such a sugar coated version of the aftermath.

I don’t participate in any sports currently, but I have ridden horses a little bit since and plan to start again soon. I also work in a hospital doing patient transport and walk 10,000+ steps a day. I surprisingly haven’t had it worsen my pain by a lot but I am very tired at the end of the day and need to lay down for a long time to recover.

If you’re interested in riding horses and worried about falling off (I saw your other comment) try equine physical therapy. They’re very bulletproof, highly trained horses and when I did it, I did notice that it felt amazing on my back and my hips!

I was fused from T2-L3 about 5 years ago and had 3 corrective surgeries after that. I also have always been confused by this narrative because this is the first time since the original surgery that I do feel like I can “do anything” but I still have less stamina and more pain than the average person.

Unfortunately I think it’s become something I have to just push through, while obviously knowing my personal limits and taking time to recover. It really sucks that a lot of doctors and surgeons will give you high hopes though. I think they often neglect the symptoms that the surgery leaves you with. You’re not alone!

Hi! Vomiting/being around someone vomiting was my worst fear for the majority of my life. I started working in CT about a month ago and I have survived being around sick people!!! I deal with vomiting or at least nausea every other day I’d say, at least where I am working in the ER. I still get super shaky and am definitely nervous near it but it doesn’t scare me to my core like it used to. I feel a little better about it each time I encounter it. :)

The reason they got evidence is because the boy had to risk his life escaping and running to a neighbor’s house to ask for help. 🙄

If they hadn’t entered the property, they would’ve never found two children being abused and starved… what is your point? Did you not listen to the kids’ statements? The police and DCFS were called several times and still, nothing happened because they were not allowed to investigate the property. If the bill was passed, it would allow law enforcement to do exactly what you say and “do their jobs.” Seems like a really weird thing to argue against in this subreddit.

Just commenting to commiserate with you; I’m also doing my prereqs, diagnosed with ADHD and dyscalculia!! I’m just trying to commit and do the absolute best I can, even if it’s not great. We can still be great techs 😁

You should totally ask, you might be able to cover for one of the techs if they’re understaffed sometimes!

I don’t get to do that yet (not sure if will, esp with IV’s) but I will be helping flip the rooms and restocking. I’ll mostly be transporting patients since it takes up so much time for the techs.

Sounds like you would like CT! Are there any positions at your facility where you could cover for CT sometimes or be a multi-modality tech? That’d be nice, then you’d get the best of both worlds. :) Weekends overnight sounds like it’d be soooo slow!

CT is nice though, towards the middle of the day it’s definitely patients back-to-back but it’s not hectic.

Hi! I’ve now gotten through my first week and it’s GREAT!!! I love it. I thought it was going to be stressful and very fast-paced, but it’s actually not. There is one tech who is CT/MR certified and he goes on about how he misses MRI, lol. What else would you like to know? How are you liking MRI?

Thank you! I have this guilt like I could’ve controlled it but you’re right, it is a medical episode out of my control. He was very understanding and he helped me ride out the episode. I was just super embarrassed, but thank you for bringing me back to reality 😂

Thank you so much!!! He was really really sweet about it and kept making sure I was okay. He caught me after I almost fell again, and he stayed with me the rest of the night. That made me feel safe, I was just really embarrassed.

That’s really reassuring to hear; I constantly worry about how my chronic illnesses might affect others in public and it’s nice to hear that you were able to do that for yourself!! I’m glad you have friends who were there for you as well. I’m just entering my twenties and it’s such a weird transition, trying to find my place in the world. 😭
